For a long time, our theme was to view all sharp pullbacks through a bullish lens as the trend based on our trend indicator was trading firmly in bullish territory.  Secondly, one critical psychological component was in our favour too- the masses were either bearish or they cursed this market from the sidelines (neutral camp); hence the slogan the most hated bull market in history.    We must deter for a second by stating that a mild or brutal correction comes down to what level you embraced this market. Stock Market Bull destined to charge higher or is it time to bail out

3 Men In Sweden Arrested For Gang Rape Streamed On Facebook Live

The platform has revolutionized users’ ability to create viral videos in real-time, though the content that has received the most attention has been of the darkest variety. There was the live-streamed torture of a disabled teen in Chicago at the beginning of the month, and then a couple of weeks ago, a 12-year-old girl went on Facebook Live to record her own suicide.

The alleged crime occurred in an apartment in Uppsala, a town about 50 miles north of the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Uppsala County police were alerted about the awful footage at 8:24 AM on Sunday. Police then targeted the apartment where the video seemingly took place, and the three men, as well as the female victim, were still there when officers arrived at the scene. The men were immediately detained and were arrested by prosecutors at 2:30 PM.

In speaking to CNN, police did not confirm if any official charges had been brought against the suspects, though they said that they “are treating the case as one of aggravated rape.” Magnus Berggren, the deputy chief prosecutor in Uppsala, said that the men are being held in custody while the investigation continues.

“She was intoxicated,” said Berggren of the victim when they found her. “We’re not really sure how.”  Full Story

Eight charged for brutal gang rape

The charges say the rape was particularly brutal because the men held the woman in place by her head. They also covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming as they repeatedly attacked her in a Migration Authority residence.

The penalty for violent rape is four to ten years in prison.

The prosecutor has asked that seven of the eight accused be deported if they are convicted of the crime.

The Swedish Crime Prevention Council says that one in ten reported rapes is a gang rape, but the most common form is two men raping one woman. “That there are this many assailants is extremely rare,” researcher Martin Grann said to the newspaper Aftonbladet.

“This is an incredible violation,” says the 29-year-old woman’s legal counsel, Charlotte Bokelund, to Aftonbladet. “She is still suffering psychologically.”

When the woman called emergency services after the attack, she said she had been raped “all night”.

The trial begins March 14 in Jönköpings district court. Full Story

Surge in Rape Cases Puts Focus on Crime Ahead of Swedish Election

And the final data from 2017 show that security in Sweden has been going the wrong way in recent years. The country has seen a continued rise in reported rapes, which increased 10 per cent last year and are up 35 per cent over the past 10 years. The number of reported rape cases was 73 per 100,000 citizens in 2017, up 24 per cent in the past decade.

According to the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (BRA), one explanation is that the legal definition of rape has been expanded. There’s also an increased willingness to report rape. Still, it’s hard to fully explain the increase, according to Nina Forselius, a researcher at BRA, who added that there was no clear “#MeToo-effect” in last year’s data.

Gang shootings and criminality have ended up at the forefront of the political agenda ahead of the election. Prime Minister Stefan Lofven and opposition parties have pledged to battle gang violence by increasing spending on police and sharpening punishment.

The number of cases of deadly violence has surged in the past three years to an average of 110 per year from 81 in the preceding three-year period due partly to a rising number of deadly incidents with firearms, which has mostly killed men in the largest cities. But when looking at it per capita, deadly violence has remained largely unchanged (at between 0.7 and 1.2 cases per 100,000 citizens since 2002). Full Story
