Slaughtering Cows In India Could Result In Life Sentence

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat on Friday increased the punishment for cow slaughter from seven years to life imprisonment as Hindu hardliners push for tougher protections for the holy animal. Under the stiffened penalties passed by Gujarat’s state assembly, anyone caught transporting cows for slaughter could also face up to 10 years in jail.

“A cow is not an animal. It is a symbol of universal life,” Gujarat law minister Pradipsinh Jadeja told the state’s assembly. “Anybody who does not spare the cow, the government will not spare him.”

Millions from India’s huge minority populations — including Muslims, Christians and lower-caste Hindus — eat beef, although it is not widely available.

Cow slaughter is a hot-button issue in India, where even rumours of cows being transported can spark murderous reprisals and religious riots. Squads of “cow protection” vigilantes are known to roam highways inspecting livestock trucks for any trace of the animal. In 2015 a 50-year-old Muslim man accused of eating beef was dragged from his home in 2015 and beaten to death by a mob. Police later said it was mutton. Full Story

Polarisation in action once again; the world, in general, is moving towards more religious intolerance as the ruling governments are encouraging this kind of play. The irony here is that Hindu’s are supposed to be vegetarian and respect all life; thus taking the life of someone whose religion does not view the cow as a sacred animal is unjust. Notice how this Muslim man was killed on the presumption he ate beef and lost his life for no reason.

You see religion being used all over the world as a tool to manipulate the masses. MP (mass psychology) states that the masses are always on the wrong side of the equation and religion is no different. The masses have no idea of the true meaning of the religion they are following; if they understood their religion properly, not one of them would want to kill another being.

This is why; while Islam is attacked indiscriminately, we have stated over and over again, that one cannot label all Muslims as the problem. The press does not cover the stories of the abuse many decent Muslims or those that appear to look Muslim suffer. Look at how many Sikhs have been killed even though their religion is completely different. They were killed because they seemed to look Muslim; judging a book by its cover is one of the worst mistakes an intelligent man or woman can commit. The story below illustrates this point clearly

The problem is ignorance and lack of understanding. This does not mean we have to tolerate those individuals that seek to use their religion as a tool of war. Those that aim to do this should be denied entrance into any society regardless of what religion they follow.
