Classic Sol, verbatim, with all the usual grammatical & syntactical errors:

*****

"Now let’s look at marriage or serious relationships. The above applies equally to both men and women. Just replace the man for woman and vice versa.

You meet a stranger on the street or a party, etc., etc. A few weeks or months later, you claim you are in love. The truth is you are in lust. You and your insignificant other can’t even grasp the basic concept of love. For starters, love is unconditional, and you both impose conditions on each other. So, what you have at best if you consume many drugs is a bastardized version of love. In other words, you have crap.

However, you take this lovey-dovey feeling, and you allow this strange person to become a central part of your life. This insignificant other (and I will get to the reason I use the word insignificant other) now starts to impose silent conditions on your life. If you remove emotions from the story, you could almost call this a parasitic invasion. And what happens the closer the guy and the girl get, the further down the line their real blood, family and friends drop. Soon just because this person is your wife or husband, they have more power over you than friends and family members that would have been willing to die for you. However, this love of your life will sell you to the dogs when you break their trust. And then you ask yourself why you were taken to the cleaners.

The truth is most people want to lose; they suffer from a secret desire to lose syndrome. How do you explain very intelligent men and women choosing numbnuts for partners? They have nothing in common. The woman has to play dumb because she might be too smart, and the guy has to pretend that the moron he is with is intelligent because all that is attracting him to her is her ass.

Significant other. Nobody bothers to examine the stupidity of the concept when they call this other person their significant other. If they are the significant one, you are the insignificant one. There should be no significant person other than you, but 90% or more will call the insignificant person who came from nowhere into their lives their significant other. At best, you should be looking for something called a strategic relationship. In this situation, there is a strategic value to your relationship other than bedroom gymnastics.

If you look at the average person, you could record their ancestor’s life 4 to 6 generations before. Other than changing their surroundings, clothes and or gadgets, there would be nothing extraordinary about the lives of all those that came after them. So, while people claim they want the best for the next generation, all they are doing is creating more mindless copies of themselves that have no hope of awakening. The goal is to have kids that are either as successful as the stupid biological bots that created them. And success and status are confused for consciousness."

Like I said, worth the A.I.T.T. subscription price, for this post alone. Some things need to be said, once in a while. Even better, my wife totally agrees.

Read mainly Christian non fiction books. Drink some wine on a weekend and watch a bit of TV. Went fishing this morning at a local river for the first time this year with a friend, just a couple of hours, nothing biting so packed up and went for breakfast at a local café. I manage to do all this whilst running my small lifestyle business!

All pretty simple stuff really, but I appreciate the simple things! :)

The 4th Way of Relaxing

Post by Yodean »

At the risk of bastardizing the 4th Way a bit, I have found it helpful in taking some of its concepts and applying it to "relaxing" most efficiently.

The 4th Way speaks about how we all have an Intellectual Centre, an Emotional Centre, a Moving Centre (physical), and an Instinctive Centre (i.e. autonomic functions, etc.). Each of these Centres may be further sub-divided into numerous small centres.

It's a useful conceptual framework.

In terms of relaxing, I find that it helps when I participate in activities that more or less "balance" the major Centres somewhat.

For example, if I use my Intellectual Centre a lot on a particular day (i.e. reading challenging books, analyzing reports and charts, etc.), making sure I also engage the Moving Centre (by engaging in vigorous physical activity or training) for a significant period of time, seems to help in relaxing.

The Emotional Centre may be "exercised" by watching good stand-up comedy clips, spending time with animals or people one likes, playing fun games, telling jokes, etc.

The Instinctive Centre is a bit trickier, and perhaps better left alone, but one may engage and "balance" it by participating in most people's favourite indoor activity.

If I had a manual job (e.g. a construction worker), I would probably make sure I engage in intellectual activities (taking good online classes, reading high-quality articles, etc.) after my working day is finished to "balance" the Centres a bit, which would help in relaxing.

As a student, I had manual jobs digging up/repairing gas mains and factory work. After work, I was too damn knackered to think of anything.

This works too . . . in a sense, you "burn out" a particular major Centre - in your example, the Physical or Moving Centre in 4th Way jargon - e.g. drain the complete battery life of that Centre, forcing the body-mind complex to relax and recover.

In my younger days, before accumulating a series of injuries, I trained in Krav Maga and Muay Thai. The testing and sparring sessions were quite intense, and it was always easy to relax and sleep afterwards. Ditto for those university days of staying up all night to cram for exams and/or write papers, etc.

No worries, everything is bastardized in one way or another. As long as its bastardized in a helpful manner it should be fine. However, the 4th way and level four are not the same. Fourth level material has been provided to give individuals some foundation but there is no such thing as the perfect book.

G as Gurdjief was famous for bastardizing stuff. He even went so far as to purposely fool his followers, though I see this as a plus as he warned them via his books he would do this. So if they fell for it they were fools before and even bigger fools after reading his work.

I know what you mean, my injuries came from rugby, shotokan and jiu jitsu. (Thank goodness for Nietzche quotes.)

Definitely. One of Bruce Lee's sayings always comes to mind for me when it comes to reading books, articles, listening to podcasts, learning new training protocols, diets, etc. - it even applies to T.I. materials:

"Absorb what is useful. Discard what is not. Add what is uniquely yours."

The first two bits require some effort, but really isn't that difficult for critical thinkers. The third part could be a bit challenging, but likely the most worthwhile, from a growth perspective.

Many books are full of diluted, mainstream narratives, and really tell you more about the author's biases/filters/buffers/programming than anything else, but the same book may contain a useful morsel or two in terms of innovative ideas. Lots of digging required.

I do have one Vice and it’s video games lol

However it’s mostly strategy games, controlling the army and managing economy at the same time

Games like Age of Empires is my all time favorite. Full of history and challenging, especially the 1v1 multiplayer. It’s just you and if you lose it’s your fault, the game does not cuddle you like most lol
