I will have our guys look into this, but if someone has already created this or has the expertise for this maybe they can speed up the process. Triplethought might be one such person.

The only downside I see which could be a big one is if the sheet falls into non-subscribers hands and it could be posted anywhere on the net after that.
My sheet and greater expertise is in excel but I understand the appeal of google sheet (Free and web based). I didn't know google also can data dip for stock prices but I'll convert my sheet & spend some time on it next week and report back.

If I decide to maintain the Google or Excel sheet the disclaimer would be if I make a mistake or miss something I'm not responsible. I assume other users would correct me pretty quickly if there were a problem.

SOL - It seems the same danger of copies of newsletters floating on the web exists as spreadsheets. Do you think it a bigger threat from a security standpoint? As a minimum another disclaimer saying DO NOT PROVIDE THIS to anyone else. Excel sheets can have passwords so that even if emailed elsewhere you have to have the password to open. But if we have any subscribers who are dishonest they could email the copies, links, or passwords to their buddies no matter how we protect it.

Mine looks like this (this is only small part)

It does not have to be Gsheets, it was a recommendation. Over time I have noticed that if one embraces concepts just to make things cushier especially when it comes to investing, the outcome is far from positive. Case in point, one would think with all the data sources available now to the average investor, many of which were only available to hedge funds decades ago, the average trader would fare better, but that's not the case.

That's a given and everyone would have to agree to that. You are doing that as a favour and its up to every person that uses your data to double-check the data. I would certainly not even dream of holding you responsible for any errors

I also created a sheet. Let me know if I can help too.
Tried to add more of it and some color coding, but space was limited on this post.

I must say, I have missed a couple of opportunities in the past by not paying attention but there are always so many more opportunities around the corner. I have grown much better at keeping track of everything suggested over time. I enjoy reviewing all of the information, now and then, and I find it really helps to keep my head in the game. I do not expect the service to do everything for me, with all respect.

You know, if there was a community spreadsheet I probably wouldn't say no but I am very happy with what we have now. I also fear an increasing workload on Sol and staff. I know what it takes to do what they do and it is daunting I'm sure. Especially with other projects in the pipeline.

I agree that security is an issue with such projects.

Just thoughts.

I concur while it might sound nice to have this feature. I don't think this is something that we should have Sol and his team waste their resources on. Determining the trend of the market and collecting and sifting through all the data they have to is a massive task. It seems to some degree we are getting spoiled here with the large number of winners Sol has produced that it's easy to start to focus on non essential things. I am in favour of them allocating their resources to the main issue at hand, spotting the best plays to get into. I have missed some plays but as chippermon has stated there are so many opportunities at hand, that I don't even give the plays i missed a second thought. I finally enjoy investing and I love all other materials they provide to push them to do more would be asking for too much

I think Sol and crew should focus on what they do best and not waste their valualbe resources on trying come up with spreadsheets, etc. Furthermore there could be security issues at hand, etc etc. Even at 2X the current price, I would still rate this service as a steal in terms of the volume of services, data, etc one gets.

I use a stock tracker and it does a pretty good job of warning me when i should place an order for a stock i am interested in buying or selling. It's not the perfect solution but it's good enough and does the job

I agree with gnosis. I think we can share the wealth with each other and share "sample" spreadsheets that an individual would update on their own. BTW, having the trades alphabetize as well as new and updated trades highlighted has done a lot to keep track of things.

I put together a google sheets doc to keep track of my trades. I use "conditional formating" that colors a percentage block light yellow when it is getting close to a "buy" price, deep yellow when it is 2% away and green when it is at or under the price. The same with the sell and stop prices. It is not perfect but I can see at a glance if there are any stocks I should keep an eye on that day. I also keep track of each lot I buy and the averages.

I would not be motivated to keep track of something for the group but if you want a sample of my google sheets doc I would be happy to send it your way. As long as you don't blame me for any bugs you find. :) Send me a personal message.

I tried to upload a screenshot of my doc but it said, "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." I will try and upload it later

I think it’s best if just keep it in the forum somehow

Hacks can happen and the trades can get leaked out

We can do our table list with a pen and a notebook. Jesse livermore didnt have google and electronic listings. And he was the best trader of all times.....

Spoken like a true Tactical Investor. We have tried to automate the stock selection process but so far the results have been dismal to say the least. The best the software can do despite all the machine learning advances is to come up with a list of stocks that I have to manually scroll through. This is why ML and AI will take awhile to master the markets for psychology and patterns cannnot be taught. It's like teaching a blind man to understand what the colour red or green means. Each person is going to input new data, in the end the blind man will tell everyone to stop as he does not need to know about colours to lead his life. Its the same way with a a top Chef, you can try to copy him or her but you won't be able to replicate the dish.

Too much automation leads to brain decay and laziness

@Sol and others who responded

I wonder if some of the reaction to the spreadsheet request is simply a misunderstanding of what it takes to do this? Even prominent members of this community are missing buying entry prices, the “fills thread” is probably a roundabout way of asking for a better system (although I don’t claim to read minds). I am not experienced in Sheets / Excel. This is easier than you think. I have shared an example spreadsheet in the link below.

https://tinyurl.com/Example-Google-Finance

See how you can get a quick view of how close a stock is to SOL’s buy price? GoogleFinance (=GoogleFinance in the Cell) updates the prices and percentages real time.

You now have a visual that will quickly allow you to target a stock and watch it's price action (based on percentage to buy price). This can result in better entry / exit points than limit orders. This is how I got DPST at 217 (suggested price I believe was 240-245)

Other thoughts

- This is no less secure than having the information in a PDF. Nothing can stop a user from forwarding a PDF, taking screenshots, or simply verbally telling people what they want. That does stink. I personally like to pay for my content. People who like things for free do not like win / win situations and ultimately pay anyway

- This is not really extra work for SOL. Once the example formulas are used, he simply inputs buy prices and tickers. Seems simple enough for Jedi Knight to do ;-)

- Spoiled? If you enjoy doing a task that any corporation will automate (copying from a PDF to a spreadsheet) then knock yourself out. You can even use pen and paper to if that makes you feel better

My last example did not give the feel that it should. I did it in Excel and tried to paste, but no room on this post any longer, so I couldn't fit a better version.

I converted to Sheets very quickly. The longest part was adding all data for the first time, but once added it is <1 hour to update, and for me I would maintain this sheet for my use anyway. I like to be able to see everything in structured format and at some point I would take this sheet and leverage it for my portfolio worksheet, so no problem for me to update and share!! I also would like feedback from you all and would update to encourage efficiency.

I am an expert at Excel (Sheets too now since they use the same formulas) and I am fine with updating and sharing, but I don't want to steel Tripplethought's thunder.

The following is what I did (I hope you can view it). There are some data missing because I have to go back a few letters, but this is extremely easy for me.
Here is the link. If there is concern about having this available, I can go to the file and delete it to prevent sharing, but I agree that format (pdf or xls or sheets) should not matter. The last thing I want to do is add more work for anyone.

Your sheet is really simple compared to mine. I like that you have paired it down to the essentials, although I might still put low, high, and average buy, which would clutter it up only a little more and be more trackable to SOL's actual recommendations.

jshooter, If you are willing to update it I have zero problem with using your format. You have more complexity than the one above and it may require some tweaking but I like it better than mine. Since this is user supported I vote we use yours.
