I don't suppose it's reported much outside the UK, but the rise in knife crime in London is quite staggering. Nearly all a certain type of chap stabbing each other, but you could be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Bear in mind that this is quite a pleasant part of London, in the afternoon...
It’s one of the reasons we moved out.

I will add, that a few hundred years ago, native Americans and Australian aborigines were amazingly cosmically connected. Alas, poor buggers.stefk wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:17 am I take this example because India is the most connected country in the world.
I maintain to say the social medias and tech companies have caused and will cause bloodbaths and wars, and not only in the western countries.
These tech companies are the most powerful consensus factories, in the hands of our governments.

Have to grease the right (left) palms, vote the right line then you're a member in good standing with the "get out of jail free card" which prompts you to say to each and every question: "I don't recall". Works like a charm. Unfortunately, doesn't work for us peasants.SOL wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 11:26 amFauci is a YESSS man; he will say whatever you want, provided you pay him the right sum. Do you remember a while back some UK pol wanted to licence knives? Interesting to see the guy using a straight edge razor to clean up the haircut - weapon of choice back in the day. As was sowing razor blade into the peak of your cloth cap (Peaky Blinders). Prevalent on the streets of Glasgow. "Hey laddie, can ya muther sew?" Slash across face. "Well get her to sew that up!"
Most dangerous? "Anything we touch is a weapon. We can deceive, persuade, change, influence, inspire. We come in many forms. We are everywhere.”— U.S. Army Psychological Operations recruitment video.

Lori Precisely, you are precisely the type of candidate that the Democratic Republic of Utopia-like Nicety and Kindness is looking for. Would you accept the post of Justice Tsar of our Loving-Tender Corrections Ministry (LTCM) ?LoriPrecisely wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 2:56 amSomebody needsharryg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 8:45 pm Absolutely true, that's the primary reason that we would never choose to live in a country where morons (ie: the general population) can easily purchase guns.

I have always said that tolerance is overrated. Funny thing is, when I first used to say things like that I meant them as a kind of silly provocative joke, but now I truly believe it. I'm with Lori all the way, shoot 'em first and ask questions later.SOL wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 9:13 am Are you in the suburbs now? It used to be easier to get guns in the 70s up until, I think, 9/11. Look at NY, it's nigh impossible for a normal sane person to get a gun. Very easy for gangsters etc to get one and crime continues to surge.
More importantly, such thugs would have been ruthlessly dealt with by the Cops when things were normal. For example, if these guys tried this in China, they would probably be shot. I was in China twice. I think the last time was in 2019, and I was surprised at how safe it is. You could go anywhere and bear in mind that I speak almost no Chinese. I was using Bing translate and I went to several towns, used the regular train even late at night and had no problems. The cops there won't take this crap. Say what you want about China, but I felt safer there than in many parts of the US. Keep in mind I also tend to go to areas that most tourists won't visit. I don't like tourist traps, so it would have been easier for me to get into trouble, but I had a pretty good time. Wish I could speak Chinese. It would have been far nicer. The bullet trains are an absolute marvel.
I noticed the same thing in many parts of Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia etc. Even in Singapore, which is very modern and westernized, I am not sure thugs like this would be tolerated for long.
We moved out of London altogether to a part of the UK where Lori's shooting skills should be unnecessary. Significant knife crime was one of the reasons. The video I posted took place in Greenwich, a reasonably affluent and leafy suburb with a large park on one side, bordering the river Thames on the other. Certainly one of the nicer parts of London, pretty much where I was brought up. Goodness knows what the more unpleasant areas are like.

I can't say I disagree, such thugs should be treated with extreme prejudice and if they happen to break a leg or two on the way to the cell, oops

One of the Krav Maga instructors (the baldish dude speaking in the clip, Chris Gagne) with whom I trained for a few years, over a decade ago.
Pretty big dude, I took him down briefly once in sparring but couldn't maintain top control, and he almost broke my neck. Otherwise, a pretty nice guy ...
Funny backstory: he was a PhD candidate in English History, but didn't finish his thesis, and became a social worker for a bit. Didn't like doing the latter either, so became a Krav Maga instructor. Still doing it, and also wrote a few books on the subject.
Krav Maga can be fun, and useful. Many different chapters, schools, globally ... even if you don't plan on being comfortable defending yourself against knife attacks, could be a good way to get some fun exercise in.
Check out a free class or two in your locale. Prolly will enjoy it. Also children's classes available - good vs. bullying.
Primary motto: walk home safely, from any situation.

I am surprised that with so much ninjas here, nobody is speaking about ninja weapons.
Against a knife attack, we have a fantastic weapon for the self defense, the ninja kusarigama.
Of course its a revisited kusarigama, but it stays powerful and is very discreet. I never go outside without my kusarigama.
The sharp shooter keychain. With your keys, a paracord and a discreet handle, and all this in the pocket, and its not illegal.
