HA - March 2023
I was wondering about HA (Hawaiian Holdings) and what Sol/TI's recommended course of action was regarding this stock, as of March 2023.
I believe it is (one of?) the only play that would currently be a "buy" per the last MU, but it is listed in red block letters (which are temporarily no longer "buys", if I recall correctly?)
Anybody has interesting insight regarding the stock?
Have a good one, fellow TI's!

We are maintaining our position as it is trading in the extremely oversold range. Once the trend shifts to a bullish direction, we may consider adding another quarter to our investment. However, it is important to avoid over-investing in any single position to manage risk effectively

Thanks a lot for the (fast!) reply, Sol. It is much appreciated.SOL wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 5:55 pm

EDIT: typo
I have small position in this play. I lowered my costs by selling some of the shares. Then i sold the equivalent in puts. The shares were put to my account, but my final price was a lot less. I have only allocated 1 full lot as per Ti's recommendation. It will trend higher, but its going to take sometime. I am expecting it be trading in the 15 to 19 ranges 9 to 15 months from today. Time will tell if my targets were just a pipe dream?

Not every play is going to do well. I have a small amount of money in this play, as it has dropped so much, I am willing to hold for a tad bit longer. I think long term risk to reward ratio is on my side (long term being the prime directive).

Broke 2020 low of 7.55 yesterday. Way oversold on a daily basis so we'll get a bounce but looking at weekly, monthly not sure it's out of the woods.outof thebox wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 11:27 am Not every play is going to do well. I sold out of this position a while ago, the key is to never over invest in any position regardless how good a chart looks etc. risk management is key

Re: HA - March 2023
This stock is looking more and more attractive from my perspective, with the Maui situation being somewhat circumstancial. Moreover, if we are still expecting something like the cybernetics-bullrun in the next 4-5 years, the tourism industry could flourish again in the US, for a time at least.
They remain the largest commercial flight company in the state of Hawaii, and were this stock to match (or exceed) its previous highs, we would be looking at 15-20x at the current price point of ~4$, for a company whose risk profile doesn't seem that concerning in the long run.
Am I missing something here?
Good day to all fellow T.I. !

Edit: For context, I got into that play later than MU so I haven't deployed a "full position" yet, hence considering to buy more because anything below 4$ seems like an enticing price for that stock.

Re: HA - March 2023
The stock is currently trading in a highly oversold range when we look at the monthly charts, and the Price-to-Sales (P/S) ratio has hit an all-time low, as illustrated below. This situation reminds me of what occurred in 2020 when the P/S ratio reached similarly low levels. Back then, the stock's price soared from around 7 to a peak of 31 before experiencing a pullback.
Additionally, there is a relatively substantial short position, with nearly 16.5% of the float being shorted. Its ripe for a potential short squeeze.

Nonetheless, it's wise never to risk everything on a single stock, as unforeseen events can occur.

Interesting that HA did not soar to the takeout offer at $18 and is sitting at the Pivot of $14. A level all year long.

Re: HA - March 2023
Thank you for your insight, sir!
I came very close to selling myself, but then considered the MU update in which Sol addresses the merger/acquisition without specifying any price target. I refrained from acting on that impulse for the time being.
On top of the sharedholders vote that could sweeten the deal, this sudden price action might spice things up a bit from my perspective, considering the high short% on the stock. The short side of this trade evidently could not plan for this happening, hence making me err on the "patient" side of that coin flip, as of right now.
