Anyone used this spice and recieved noticeable health benefits?
A friend of mine says she buys whatever brand on sale but only after a few days of using it her mood and energy levels picked up noticeably + brain fog lifted. For myself just interested in energy as my mood seems good via singing and other mindful practices but do notice when mood off I lose even more energy if it is possible - yes it is.
THis site i just picked ad hoc on the run and i know it is bias most probably because sell product (the genuine spice is the most expensive one). Maybe one can use the spice in powder form itself on food and get same good effect?

Here is some info on the spice. I have not noticed any of these benefits probably because MB, Mumio, etc. provide the same benefits. Also when I use it, its generally as a spice to add taste to the dish rather than for health benefits
While saffron’s origin is still debated, it most likely originated in Iran. There, it was revered for its medicinal properties. People would eat saffron to enhance libido, boost mood, and improve memory (1Trusted Source).
Here are 11 impressive health benefits of saffron.
1. A powerful antioxidant
Saffron contains an impressive variety of plant compounds. These act as antioxidants — molecules that protect your cells against free radicals and oxidative stress.
Notable saffron antioxidants include (2Trusted Source):
crocin
crocetin
safranal
kaempferol
Crocin and crocetin are carotenoid pigments responsible for saffron’s red color. Both compounds may (2Trusted Source, 3Trusted Source):
have antidepressant properties
protect brain cells against progressive damage
improve inflammation
reduce appetite
aid weight loss
Safranal gives saffron its distinct taste and aroma. Research shows that it may help improve your mood, memory, and learning ability, as well as protect your brain cells against oxidative stress (4Trusted Source).
Lastly, kaempferol is found in saffron flower petals. This compound has been linked to health benefits, such as reduced inflammation, anticancer properties, and antidepressant activity (2Trusted Source, 5Trusted Source).
SUMMARY
Saffron is rich in plant compounds that act as antioxidants, such as crocin, crocetin, safranal, and kaempferol. Antioxidants help protect your cells against oxidative stress.
2. May improve mood and treat depressive symptoms
Saffron is nicknamed the sunshine spice. This is not just due to its distinct color but also because it may help brighten your mood.
In a review of five studies, saffron supplements were significantly more effective than placebos at treating symptoms of mild-to-moderate depression (6Trusted Source).
Other studies found that taking 30 mg of saffron daily was just as effective as Fluoxetine, Imipramine, and Citalopram — conventional treatments for depression. Additionally, fewer people experienced side effects from saffron than from other treatments (7Trusted Source, 8Trusted Source, 9Trusted Source).
Both the saffron petals and thread-like stigma appear to be effective against mild-to-moderate depression (1Trusted Source, 10Trusted Source).
While these findings are promising, longer human studies with more participants are needed before experts can recommend saffron as a treatment for depression.
