No I meant as an investment in the commodity, it's very oversold and showing a big positive divergence!

Yes and no. Initially shortage should push up the price but what happens if you can't get a regular supply at any price and downstream demand dries up? I thought the stock of Boliden of Sweden would be driven up in price as it gets its energy from hydro but it's getting smashed. Maybe a short-term effect of its Finnish smelter being off-line and MP. Hmmm.

Hmmm, imo, if you want to play with commodity metals, might as well start accumulating silver and gold (precious or commodity metals, I consider these hybrids) at current levels. nfa.
Disclosure: started buying silver and gold again today, & recently.

Got a bit of silver and palladium in ETFs!
Just thought the chart for aluminium looked good and it's not a metal that the world can do with out very easily.

Me: "For an aluminum play what do you think about JJU? Exposure to the price of aluminum and not the wacky producers? Bonkers low volume"SteelNerd wrote:Especially shorter term here: Look at RS. About 10% off the ATH at the moment... PE ratio is decent, but they haven't hiked their divvy in a while, are they really expecting it to stay so good? Idk.
Then you have CENX, it's been losing money SINCE 2018... and is 90% off it's ATH.
So there's a LOT of dislocation in the industry, that tells me it has to be a very well analyzed stock pick. Industry wide play is too diluted.

I'm seeing all kinds of strangeness in that chart. It freaking peaked the week of Ukraine invasion and STRAIGHT down since then. I don't get that given the European dynamics in play.
Could be an opportunity.
Maybe because the Euro is getting so weak and the dollar strong, that means aluminum is getting cheaper globally... Only way that makes sense for me. I think if that ETN consolidates under $50, and the dollar starts weakening, then watch that start to rebound hard. But strong dollar = low commodity prices for products not heavily protected by tariffs where China is still flooding market

JJU is not a bad option. A riskier option due to volatility is AA. For JJU I would only think about deploying some money at 45 or better.Eric wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 1:32 am Me: "What do you think of aluminum?

Doesn't show up in Yahoo finance, Schwab, or any of web searches for aluminum investments; I was unaware.
