Better alternatives to IB (Interactive Brokers)?

Post by xkosmox »

Hello, currently exploring better alternatives to Interactive Brokers
- Investing in stocks and options given in the MU/AI/TB/RT/Plunder Down Under updates
- Based in Singapore

Some persistent issues I have found over the months in Interactive Brokers
- The GTC (Good-Till-Cancelled) trades can only exist for up to 3 months.
Some pending GTC trades will just disappear without any notifications even before reaching 3 months; other GTC trades they'll inform me a few days before they automatically disappear; it's inconsistent, buggy and very hard to keep track of and often I miss out on trades because the pending trade just disappeared by itself.

- There is no indicator on how much available funds I have for further pending trades (So I can't prepare to top up funds in advance until I hit a warning message that tells me I have to top up more)

- Stock price alerts are sent out, but the stop limit orders at those prices aren't fulfilled. Though I understand this is a common issue for most platforms.

- Alerts set for all stocks will "disappear" for days or weeks before re-appearing.

- Trading service gets disconnected during market hours from time to time; can be minutes or hours.

- Platform does not allow me to buy stocks such as IQST, AEXAY, KYCCF, GBTC

- Customer service response doesn't exist

Any better alternatives to suggest?

Thank you

It looks like Singapore has access to TD Ameritrade. They are pretty good and probably better than Interactive. There are many countries that can't open brokerage accounts with many US firms. for them, Interactive is a good option.

Generally speaking, TDmamertrade seems to be rated among the top US players
https://www.tdameritrade.com.sg/

https://start.tastyworks.com/ will accept applications from many countries also.
When the words short term appear under any post; the same conditions listed in the Market update under the short term category apply

TdAmeritrade once your account is created you also get free access to ThinkOrSwim using the same login. I prefer ThinkOrSwim alerts.

TD Ameritrade is now part of Schwab. It'll be interesting to see how things change.

Used Schwab for an investment club many years ago, will be interested in views of folks who currently use it.

I have retirement accounts with Fidelity - ok, but they just changed their trade entry screen which I don't think is an improvement. Confused me initially because no warning. I'll get used to it.

Have TDAm for taxable accounts. Love Think or Swim. Let's see what SCHW will bring.

Use IAB for foreign stocks. Like it the least probably because I use it infrequently.
