The option part must be unofficial right as I don't remember issuing an official option play. What is the expiration date of the option you are referring to.

Hi Sol,

Are you able to give us an update on AVT?

In the Feb 28 Market Update, it states “Risk-takers could purchase the Aug 40 calls, when the stock trades in the 36 to 37 ranges. Note the options part of this trade is not an official play.”

I have a position in the Aug 45 calls (not sure why I picked 45, may have been a mistake) at a price of 1.40 and the last price for this option was 0.30. Would you recommend closing the position & accepting the loss as we’re nearing expiration or hold?

AVT

Is now in the extreme to insanely overbought ranges on the weekly charts, so the likely outcome is that it will/should continue consolidating. Consolidations are not good for options if they are low on time.

On the monthly charts, the pattern still looks strong so it should resume its uptrend after the consolidation phase is over.

I sold the Sep calls and purchased Nov21 40C. Based upon your input I will keep a close watch.

Thanks!

Based on this I placed a sell order just now on the Aug option which if executed will be a loss. I'll report % if it executes

The option play on AVT was unofficial, however this option play, I was able to squeeze out a profit

Remember, unofficial plays require you to do most of the leg work and get out on your own parameters

Time is not on your side with options unless you carry leaps but even then you could still lose

Here is when I got into AVT

Regarding unoffical option plays. If you are not an expert and you getting into these plays bail out the moment you are showing decent gains. We got into AVT roughly at 35.47. If you bouth the calls roughly around this price which should have been the case as the unoffical call play was issued at the same time as the stock play, then you should have had an opportunity to close out at a profit. AVT traded almost to 45 before pulling back which means the option was in the money for a bit

Do not get into unofficial plays waiting for us to provide guidance, the whole reason of issuing an unoffical play is that we do not want to have to monitor it or follow it. Options are great way to make money but they are also a great way to lose money. You need to have a balance, be eager to take profits while you are learning
