MU play, 2nd lot entry point hit. Still in play. Usually by the time you hear about the earnings, the results have been baked into the price. The theme recently is overshooting to the downside, for the most part.

To be fair I bought a ITM LEAPs on it, not the actual stock. Also, I haven't checked if Walmart applies to the "hold all buys" alert that the TIT emailed out recently.
I treated that alert as a bit of a contrarian indicator that a tradable bottom was near, tbh.

I don't see it that way.. I think we ratchet down all month. I think when Target announces their earnings they'll take a similar hit. I originally thought these companies, along with consumer brands like TAP and Kellog would just raise prices to compensate for inflation. But they have the same problem I do with my small businesses. It's easy to say, hard to do. Consumers will vote with their feet. As I suspect Netflix will soon learn.Yodean wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 2:04 amTo be fair I bought a ITM LEAPs on it, not the actual stock. Walmart has raised the price on their diet Sam's Cola 2L bottles 9.1% after a 6 or so week span where they were completely out of stock at all stores.

Conventional, decent, level 3 thinking by an individual with likely above-average IQ who reads and believes what mainstream financial publications, such as the WSJ and _The Economist_, want him to think.Triplethought wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 5:14 am I don't see it that way.. Maybe. The question is what behavior does the thinking drive that will lead to my failure? Right now I'm not selling per SOLs specific warnings. But I've also slowed down on buying. FWIW I haven't seen fellow TIs reporting fills despite a few buy points being hit. My few buy orders haven't triggered for SLV or RGLD. Looking at today it's tempting to take another bite of APPL and other tech stocks. But looking at the graphs it's hard to deny they are still trending down so I'm keeping a few bullets in the chamber. Hard to know when you're catching a falling knife versus grabbing a bargain. Since beginning of year 5.5 months ago we are negative 10% on S&P and -23.4% on Nasdaq so it's time for all of us to admit we may no longer be in a long term upward trend. All of our plays and Sol's advice is predicated on the assumption that the trend is up. We are indeed "fighting the FED" right now. I've noticed most of our plays tend more toward the Nasdaq performance since most are high growth.Yodean wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 3:06 pmConventional, decent, level 3 thinking by an individual with likely above-average IQ who reads and believes what mainstream financial publications, such as the WSJ and _The Economist_, want him to think.Triplethought wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 5:14 am I don't see it that way.. And I posted the above comments yesterday and TODAY Target sank on news of further retail losses taking the entire market down with it. Target stock is down 25% today. So you can use me as a contrarian indicator all you want but if you had purchased target it would be ugly. And yes even a broken clock is right twice a day but I'll take the win on that one. So we could buy Target. I'm actually tempted. But I don't think we've seen the bottom just yet. Another month of hits to come.

The Art of War
A good contrarian indicator like yourself will win a few battles here and there, in the short-term, but the true Ninjedi wins the War. Been making 50+ trades a day, generally, including opening or closing LEAPs, SCC'ing, and SCSP'ing. Today it was mostly SCSP'ing the crap out of a lot of stocks.Triplethought wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 4:49 pm So you can use me as a contrarian indicator all you want but if you had purchased target it would be ugly. They're raising the price of 24-packs from $4.92 to $6.24... a 27% increase. Doesn't seem to me like they're having a hard time compensating for inflation.

Re: WMT
The only cure for higher prices is higher prices and vice versa. But in this instance this crazy situation has been forced onto the masses. However, that does not matter, the first thing to give will be going out to eat, then driving, then buying unnecessary stuff and so forth. This will eventually lead to companies tightening up and hiring less. one way to do this will be to reward top workers more while firing the mediocre, and tech companies are good at doing this.
