I decided it was time to do a formal introduction. I have been trolling for the past 3 months, reading and learning all I can. I have filled a binder with Updates and newly learned vocabulary words. I have been in and out of the markets a couple of times over the years, as I had 2 cousin-in-law stock brokers. And, Yes, I was one of those "jump ship when it is sinking" kind of people, in 1987 and 2019.
I am now learning how to do this myself. I really appreciate "Tactical Investor" for giving me the confidence to try this myself, and for everyone on this forum. Thank you all for being my mentors!
I took a bit of time choosing my platform. I chose Schwab. And, actually placed my first trade today!

Welcome Lori!

If you're ready to un-learn bad habits/conditioning I'm sure you will have a personally and financially rewarding experience. I have a feeling you'll do well as in just a few posts I can tell you've got huevos.

The fact that you are keeping a journal, puts you light years ahead of the average investor. In less than one year you will realise the power of the journal. In two years you will see things you never dreamed possible in terms of your inner workings. In 3 years you will wonder why you did not start this 10 years ago.

Yes! I think I might have found TI back in 2008 or 2009 but stayed completely out of the market because "none of it is real anymore"... Around 2014 or 2015 I realized "it doesn't have to be real, and I'm missing out". I joined Those Moronic Fools and started playing my own game with SLV. I made a few bucks on my own and a few more following the fools. My relationship with the Fools soured and I found TI on stockgumshoe in fall of 2018. I do wish I had started 10 (or 20) years earlier but I'm here now.

As long as we have the energy to breathe it's never too late to change. And I will add it is individuals like you that make this forum and TI focus on adapting and changing for critical thinkers like you empower other critical thinkers. Similar frequencies enhance each other and a soft note suddenly becomes a loud note

Well, Schwab has locked me out of my account with no explanation whatsoever. I have talked to four people over the past two days with still no explanation and no resolution.
I am looking to move all my money over to Interactive Brokers.

If they did that, they are asking to lose many a customer. Were you using VPN's to log in? Many individuals use VPNs today to protect their privacy. But even if you were, there should be an explanation for this action.

I have TDAm the offspring of Schwab and have never experienced this type of problem. Very interested in hearing how it is resolved.

No VPN. I have been told that the person who locked my account must have made a mistake because they see nothing wrong with my information, but that woman will not respond to anyone's email requests to unlock my account. Still waiting.

It could be that someone had a name similar to yours, and the woman was asleep on the job. What is stupid is that they give such people so much power. If another person sees the mistake, they should be able to override her and if she does not respond within a few hours at most 1 day, she should be put on unpaid leave for 30 days to make sure she never repeats that mistake again. 2nd punishment should be 6 months unpaid leave and if it happens a third time a kick in the rear

I'm currently using 4 platforms and have tried several others throughout the years. If I had to choose one it would be Interactive Brokers. It's like a professional platform for retail traders/investors. I traded professionally for 14 years. IBKR is bar none above the rest. If your into bells, whistles and flashy software IBKR might not be for you.
The software settings can be a little quirky at first.

Been using IB as well; decent experience. Sometimes there will be random bugs that last for hours

Thank you for the input. I have noticed that a couple of the YT investors I watch use IB.
I have been trying the IB trial software, it does not feel very intuitive, so there will be a learning curve. One thing I have heard people say is that in IB you can set alerts for time decay on options, where as in Schwab's Street Smart Edge you can not.

I have still not gotten this resolved. Everyone I have talked to is either a customer service rep., or a manager/supervisor. They tell me the investigation department is not responding to their emails and there is nothing more they can do. They won't give me any information except that my account is locked because there is a red flag of some sort, and they have to investigate because of the Patriot Act.

In general, I find there has been a significant decline in customer service almost everywhere, whether it's restaurants or banks. Especially the big ones. The small businesses that barely survived the cv19 scam still deliver very good face-to-face service, but of course the costs are higher.

As for your "red flag," did you enter a bunch of option orders that you then quickly cancelled, etc.? Apparently this may cause a "red flag".

As for the Patriot Act ... lmao. Tool for state surveillance and control.

But hey, now you've got some time to watch all those cool "Wheel" option videos, etc.
