Beer, Booze, Wine

Post by Eric »

Alcohol is mentioned dozens of times but there isn't a topic dedicated to it that I could find.

I drink cheap watery American Lagers but will occasionally drink an unfiltered Belgian white.

I know Sol is a big fan of vodka... No joke, by the American "colorless, odorless, tasteless" definition of vodka; "Members Mark" vodka from Sam's Club is #1 and it's like $13 for a 1.75L!

(At least in MN) You don't need to be a member to buy alcohol from "clubs" like Costco and Sam's. The next time you're in the USA, find a Sam's club and go get a bottle of Members Mark vodka.

I like ethyl alcohol in all of its forms: brewed, fermented, distilled, but I always return to my
dark master, the grape!

In my 30s I was such a good customer of Absolut
that the chaps in Ahus came up with this:

Forgery Harry. It really reads 100%, yes?

Why is Budweiser like a canoe? Both are close to water.
Why is Budweiser like a toilet? ..........

Many years ago, the doc ask me if I drank alcohol. "Every damned day" was my reply.

Recently bought a house "as is" with lots of booze left in it. Much of the wine and champers had spoilt, corks allowed to dry out. There was (operative term "was") plenty of harder stuff. Worked my way through the gin, bacardi, vodka, bourbon and some more unusual liqueurs. Did enjoy King's Ginger. Sake next, hic.

Well, not all Vodka are the same. It's like beer, some of them are just horrible. Ukraine makes a very good Vodka called Prime Vodka. it's distilled 6 times and quite smooth. Another very good Vodka was Dekanka distilled 7 times and even smoother, but I think the company was bought out and the product was changed because I can no longer find that brand. Zubrowska which is made in Poland is also quite good and it has a piece of grass in it, maybe one day they will upgrade that strand to Ganja.

Then there is the Nemiroff honey pepper vodka which is an acquired taste as it's red and has a peppery taste. Can be quite good on Cold nights as it warms you up nicely.

I also happen to like good dark beers but I don't drink them too often as beers can be fattening. The Jamaican rum overproof is quite good.

Oh yeah, I know vodkas can vary quite a bit. I've had plenty of them from Karkov to Grey Goose and everything in-between. I could see where people would actually fault the Sam's Club vodka for being too clean and flavorless... You can get yourself in trouble by mixing drinks too strong since you can't taste the alcohol.

I see a "Purity 34" times distilled Swedish vodka on TotalWine.com seems like a gimmick to me.

I started out as an adolescent driking cider, progressed to larger until my 30s where I started on the red wine. I do love the spirits but rarely get any as I lose discipline and drink too much so just get some on special occasions like Christmas and New Year! We have found a nice inexpensive wine we like, the blue Barefoot merlot bottle. Have cut back over the years to around a bottle and a half a week just on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but will have that in a night very occasionally when I'm out with a good friend or one of my brothers, and maybe a brandy nightcap!
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

I prefer BOOZE, WINE, & WOMEN!
Married now so I gladly say Wine & my Woman!
The wife prefers red wine mostly...and I enjoy a good red wine that is not over $25.

Scotch is my treat if I indulge myself. This winter I have been draining a 1.75l of gin almost every night. Wife juices the lime and freezes them like ice cubes...more flavor and less dilution of taste.
I'm having one right now!

My favorites are scotch, bourbon and dark beers. I try to stick to the 12 year old Scotches for the best value for money. For the scotches I like the Speysides and some Highland. As for the beers my favorite is the Rochefort Trappistes Belgian beer it’s so smooth but strong and sneaks up on you.

I don’t drink tequila much but the Casa noble tequila is really smooth and has a nice vanilla smell and taste to it.

I recall letting a few friends try my Johnny Walker Blue and Casa noble tequila and they said it was the best tequila and whiskey they ever had. Do my best to share my favorites with good friends. :D

I have banned myself from vodka but would have a shot of this 201 proof classic anytime.
