Hello, as per the last MU update, I am looking to get started in gold.
However, being based in Singapore; Larry would be difficult logistically and financially to work with. I have explored some local bullion providers and am considering gold etfs instead.
Any recommendations on reliable etfs that usually follow gold price closely?
Currently looking at SPDR Gold Shares ETF but wondering if there is any better recommendation

Re SPDR gold etf, are you looking at your local one O87/GSD?
Wondering why gold and not your local equities? Diversification? Strait Times Index looks like it's entering a major upward trend.

Hi xkosmox,
I believe that PHYS is reliable and follow gold price closely.
See https://sprott.com/investment-strategie ... on-trusts/
I plan on buying PHYS in the future instead of buying gold items for physical delivery.
I do not know if it is better than SPDR.
In the past, I have owned CEF, another Sprott offering.

Just never had a good vibe about local markets; I tend to go with intuition. But you're right about the STI, giving it some thought

Having a look at PHYS and GDX also happening upon GLD along the way. May do a minor call option too.

Would prefer PHYS. Miners have their own issues (mismanagement, ridiculous acquisitions etc.) and don’t track gold prices well. Have you looked into the gold bullion or gold savings account from UOB? You will have to pay a premium but they are at least reputable.
