given all of this volatility, it can seem like the first deployment plays aren't targeting the lowest price possible.
thinking about just waiting for the second or third deployment to deploy all two or three lots, since they usually seem to come. rarely see something pop before the second or third deployment, making deployment 1 feel expensive.
am i off base?

I think it's your personal bias. See the exact opposite take given by budge here: viewtopic.php?p=5896#p5896
I've personally been on both sides of the fence where I have considered trying to supercharge my returns by deploying 2/3rds at the second lot price, and I have also considered taking a bite of anything mentioned at market price.
Sol encourages us to adapt recommendations to fit us but you should probably back-test your theory before implementing.

We all claim to want to be free and be in charge but freedom comes at a cost, the cost is that one has to learn to think for oneself. It took me awhile for I kept thinking at the beginning that SOL and the team could or should do this or that and then I realized that I could do those things that I wanted them to do. After all, as Eric pointed out SOL has always recommended and suggested that one should adopt TI's methodology to match

It’s fun experimenting, the MP and sentiment analysis is a powerful edge. The key is to not be afraid to fail, failure is just a step to get better and betterCinnamon wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 1:40 pm We all claim to want to be free and be in charge but freedom comes at a cost, the cost is that one has to learn to think for oneself. Before February it was the opposite. Plays often never went to the second lot and you had to be aggressive. Right now it seems second and third lots are easier to meet. I often look at the current TA and make tweaks when the time comes.

What you have suggested would have worked in the last 6 months but not going back further. We have to determine whether this is an anomaly or likely to continue going forward, I'm sure Sol and team will be looking into this and adjust the strategy going forward if they determine it necessary, at the moment all we have is hindsight. As others have said you can adjust the TI strategy to suit your own risk/reward profile.
