Trump The Hammer
When Trump was elected we stated he was elected because he is like hammer, setup to create so-called chaos with what was seen as normal business practices. If the big players continue with this theme then they will want him to be around as he is unpredictable and the perfect hammer. After the destruction, they will elect the Chisel to fine-tune things.
This is part of the big culling process we spoke off. This story indicates another change that will hit the so-called business as normal process in the drug industry
The Trump administration finalized a health care price transparency rule Thursday that threatens to permanently shift power away from insurers in coming years — but seems to largely be viewed by consumer advocates as, a first step to decoding the black box of health care pricing.
The rule from the U.S. Health and Human Services Department requires insurers to post the rates they negotiate with providers for hundreds of shoppable, non-emergency services, as well as reveal drug rates for some groups.
“The final rules also require plans and issuers to disclose in-network provider negotiated rates, historical out-of-network allowed amounts, and drug pricing information through three machine-readable files posted on an internet website,” according to the rule.
The rule, supported by the Department of Labor as well as Treasury, would impact more than 200 million Americans who have private individual or employee-based insurance.
The requirement for the publicly available data files will take effect for plan or policy years beginning on or after January 1, 2022. Plans and issuers must make cost-sharing information available for 500 specified items and services for plan or policy years beginning on or after January 1, 2023, and must make cost-sharing information available for all items and services for plan or policy years beginning on or after January 1, 2024, according to Health and Human Services.
But with more than 60% of the insured population coming from employer benefits programs, revealing the negotiated prices between providers and insurers poses a potential avenue to find ways to curb costs.
“Both patients and in many cases employer who rely on insures to negotiate on their behalf don’t have any sense of what prices are being negotiated,” said Christopher Whaley, a policy researcher at RAND Corporation.

The best way to reign in medical costs is to make the whole billing process transparent starting with the cost of drugs and basic medical procedures and then moving up. Competition is the key to everything and the big drug players and medical service providers have almost a monopoly when it comes to pricing

Looks like today, the hammer has been dropped. Hate to say this, the USA is officially a banana republic. Marginalized Republican voters have now begun to act like BLM and Antifa. And the media says it's all Donnie's fault, while ignoring what transpired from the other camp for the past ten months. They even treated the leftists as heroes. The silent are no longer going quietly into the night.
Discretionary money will continue to drift away from traditional havens, organized sports, big city venues, large non-profits with shady operations. The move accelerated with the masking and lockdowns. Today means it's permanent.

Just to chime-in here, DC is chaotic now. Per the local news there was a bomb found, and protestors are getting out of control.

About the healthcare per Sol's comment - at least in Maryland a major change has been telehealth. My insurance before all of this blocked all services that were not in-office. Now everything is remote, a welcome change and seems to be a harbinger for what's coming.
And overall about Trump and the dems taking control, IMHO what's happening seems to perfectly line-up with Sol's view of 2021 and beyond. Let's see how it goes, but seems like we have the right mindset.

If SOL is right this entertainment money will drift to drugs, virtual reality. Plus I'm guessing Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, computer Games, virtual exercise platforms (like pelaton). I've heard Fortnite is hosting concerts in their virtual reality space and I'm wondering if this game environment will grow to be the VR platform for various entertainment as well as technical conferences.MarkD wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:01 pm Looks like today, the hammer has been dropped. But I do think with the vaccine will come an uptick in real world travel and entertainment.
Politically I think those of us on the right are screwed. The left have now won and will never allow the right a fair chance again. At this point I think America will decline over the next few decades including our freedoms and our economic might. It will take a while to rot but with European style politics why would America be exceptional. Nope. Beginning of the end my friends.
Current atmospheric levels of CO2 (400ppm) are much lower than 500 million years ago (3000-9000ppm).

I know more than I would like regarding security of federal buildings in D.C. With that said, how the hell does anyone 1) Not prepare for a large protest outside the Capital, 2) Allow protestors inside the building. It's hard enough to get inside when Congress is NOT in session.
I am a wee bit skeptical, although, I don't condone nor understand the shooting which occurred, whether innocent or not.

Re: Trump The Hammer
What is hard to imagine for most is that everything at the top level is pre-planned and when there is chaos they can pass laws that nobody would agree to before in the guise of bringing stability. Get ready for less freedom the pendulum has begun its great swing from freedom to a state-controlled enterprise, it's time to throw emotions out of the window and analyse the raw data. Great changes are coming, those countries that had less freedom will eventually become bastions of freedom and the west is going to move towards a Gestapo type state.
In all this chaos the astute investor can still do well, provided they understand that the number factor today if you live in the West, is to be mobile. Now freedom will be connected with the ease with which one is willing to move. many of the mini trends we were examining are giving signs that they are ready to become full-fledged trends. More on this in future updates. Great change is coming, it will not be great for those that bury their heads in the sand and hope for better times. Hope pays very poorly.
Finally, remember that chaos is the stepping stone to grand and positive change, but in the interim, the changes will not be orderly or pleasant for those that allow their emotions to do the talking.
I hope I am wrong but the US is now moving into a state of massive defiance. Expect massive divisions between the Right and left-leaning states to manifest such that they might even start to challenge the current administration. Right or wrong the Right feels let down and are going to now take the fight to the left and it's not going to be pretty.

Why do you believe countries that experience little freedom today will start to have more freedom in the future?

This was a staged event. There are enough videos that showed very little resistance from the security authorities. Even videos of the "police" escorting buses of agitators to the rally.MarkD wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:12 am

Your read of the situation mirrors my own. Sad it took a loss of life to "sell" Americans on the Great Reset, but we must follow where the leaders are taking us (for now).qfactors wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 7:45 pmThis was a staged event. I'm no expert but it's unbelievable that the security apparatus was not prepared for this, especially the Capitol Hill Police.I know more than I would like regarding security of federal buildings in D.C. With that said, how the hell does anyone 1) Not prepare for a large protest outside the Capital, 2) Allow protestors inside the building. It's hard enough to get inside when Congress is NOT in session.
Usually for events like this the Capitol Hill Police (and Park Police) have a large perimeter established around the building and some fencing/blockades but they were battling it out on the stairs. If you know the building and where the entrance is, once the mob makes it to this point there's no stopping them. Hell even the scaffolding was still up. WTF?
About the crowd size, below is a page with a Twitter video that you might have seen showing the crowd during Trump's speech.
https://bipartisanreport.com/2021/01/06 ... -c-speech/
You'll notice the crowd was at the Washington Monument and it's a bit of a hike to the Capitol building across the mall. Perhaps the authorities thought that the crowd would not make the trek which is unbelievable especially after Trump told them to go there (and has been talking about it for weeks).
I'm going to blame this on incompetence rather than some sort of conspiracy. We'll soon find out but nonetheless it made me sad to be an American watching it all go down. All the while the markets were on fire - strange days indeed. Long BTC.

I didn't see those videos but it seemed like a small fraction of the crowd made it to the building based on the videos I watched. And there was a lot of resistance from what I saw so if you're implying that government was involved I'm not sure if I buy into that. Maybe I'm missing your point.qfactors wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 7:45 pm This was a staged event. There are enough videos that showed very little resistance from the security authorities. To me this appears to be incompetence from the police and a select number of idiots (albeit somewhat organized ones that set this up on social media) that broke in and trashed the place. The rest of the people just followed, took videos for their TikToc wall and left. Hell they let most of the people out like it was the 4pm tour leaving to get on the bus.

The hammer is gone, but we have a battering Ram in place. I am not talking about Biden but the printing press being pushed into hyperdrive. Now the democrats with a unhinged Fed will be able to create as much money as they want. The poor will get poorer a lot faster, freedom will become a thing of the past and the right assets will soar to the moon.MarkD wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:01 pm Looks like today, the hammer has been dropped.
