These developments in Spain are quite disturbing, to say the least. I expected something like this to happen eventually, but so soon? Damn. It looks like I will have to speed up my preparations.

Quite distrubing indeed. The pendulum on the West has started to swing as we stated it would, but its moving a lot faster than even we expected. For those that beleive in theme of freedom or death, its time to make backup plans

Thanks for sharing this article, and for the commentaries too. it's quite disturbing to read for someone grew up in post soviet eastern EU, lived in the USA for a while (4 years), and just moved back to Europe recently (2+ years in Spain)...

I knew it would be just a chapter (4-6 years of life) anyways, but might get a shorter life span... As for back up plans, not sure if some parts of Asia (completely new to me and my partner) or her home country Mexico would be more freedom friendly (or other central American country).

I have to do my research (personal freedom, safety, healthcare, taxation, business climate, etc), but in the meantime if you have any suggestions based on your earlier research, would be happy to read as inputs.

Vietnam is a good place it combines aspects of the west and east in a very cool manner. South America did not handle the COVID situation too well, but if you are interested in that Area, a Place called Cuenca in Ecuador is very interesting. There are roughly 4 to 6k expatriates there and quite friendly. The one great thing about Cuenca is the weather and food supply. It's spring almost every day of the year. The high altitude also means your body will build up a larger amount of Co2. Believe it or not higher Co2 readings when you do your blood work relate to better health.

In central Europe I found Poland to be quite interesting, but I don't know how they are handling the situation post COVID. A hidden gem is Lviv in Ukraine, its very close to Poland, as long as you are not trying to purchase real estate you should be fine. Buying real estate in Ukraine is not an easy task.

I've hit SOL and others here pretty hard for their beliefs when i think they aren't being scientific. And I've probably come off arrogant for doing it. But I hope it was only offensive to someone whose world view can't withstand the criticism of a "third rate night club comic".

As for Poland, one of my friend moved there 6 years ago, and lives a pretty good local life, only his local currency doesn't buy him a lot when traveling to the west. But that's him, I would still aim to earn dollar and Euro, and invest with TI.
As for post-c19, I have to catch up with him how is life nowadays. I could drop a note to you afterwards if interested.

Just for my curiosity, what's your take on Hungary in central Europe?

I would be interested in any update on Poland. It is one of my favourite places to visit. In 2018 I visited several cities in Poland and the experience was fantastic.

From what I have heard the language can be hard to learn and several of my Slavic friends have told me that the Hungarians tend to give outsiders the cold shoulder. However, maybe there is an issue between Slavs and Hungarians. First hand I can't tell you as I have not visited Hungary. However, I have been to Bulgaria. Your dollar goes a long way there but one has to be on the lookout for pickpockets and a lot of cheating if you are an outsider, though I was fine as I tend to act like the locals, who get pissed off when anyone tries to cheat them. While Sophia is a lovely city, it would be best if you have a local connection. If you go to some small towns outside the city, but you have to have some knowledge of the language or speak Russian otherwise will the locals are friendly you will not be able to talk I was in one town near the mountains and a ski resort can't remember the name now, But the milk was yellow with the grass-fed buttery fat on the top, cheese was to die for, in general the food was great but as I stated if you don't speak the local language or Russian you will have to depend on sign language

I would opt for Lviv over Sophia, as it's a beautiful city, friendly people and if you earn in dollars or EUro it's quite cheap. And As stated it is very close to Poland so you are just a hop N skip away from Krakow which is a very nice city in Poland. Wroclaw is another wonderful place if you are interested in art.

I was in Hungary several years ago with spouse (half-Hungarian) and inlaws. The men tend to be a bit brusque, but straightforward. The women ... really, really beautiful - also straightforward. The Eastern European joke is that Hungarian women have the highest global sex drive. I cannot confirm nor deny.

High quality food, restaurants, etc., reasonably priced, especially if you dine outside Budapest.

But Orban's a tad unpredictable, so there's that . . .

I do recognize there are some issues with Western leaders atm. Perhaps a change of venue within the USA will be suitable for a period of time while the stupidity plays out. I live in Tennessee and it's had significant fewer impacts from the standpoint of lockdowns. The media continues to play the fiddle but a clear and significant majority are not behaving like covid is believeable, and have been for well over a year. Bars, restaurants, live music, it's all over folks. They tried in large metros but overwhelmingly it has passed.

There is a possibility the overt nature of this by gubmint and globalists will be reversed at some point at the SE USA ain't buying what they are selling. I am unable to relocate for now so it's sane (mostly) in the central portion of TN.

The end of Obama's vaunted USA becoming Euro-socialist could be waning. Jo is being managed and I would not be surprised if BO is the Wiz. Now control of the masses could take on a right wing approach, just as devastating btw.

The joint venture is signed, 65% for Alcoa and 35% for FYI. The market doesnt like it, for the moment. The market thougt maybe it would be 50/50. Therefore this overreaction. The market has a short vision.
But its a good contract for the long term. I stay in.
