Karl Denninger always does a "deep dive" into the employment report and says of the current report: "but something ugly this way comes". He's been looking at these reports in detail for decades and notes disturbing numbers in subset A-1 and A-4. Huge numbers of workers disappeared from the workforce but it's from the highest educated group, not the lowest.
"The loss of jobs in the highest educational cohort, however, peeled my hair back when I saw it, and then the loss of PEOPLE in that same cohort was a hair-raising event. Over 12 months that would amount to six million dead, all with college degrees. That's double the run rate for death in the US among the entire population which is typically right around 3 million and, obviously, the majority of people who die "at large" DO NOT hold a Bachelors or better. There is in fact NO cohort in the United States with that standing -- only about a third of the >25 population in the US holds at least a Bachelors, so if the death rate is representative and was to extend across the entire population of the US that would be an 18 million dead body run rate or SIX TIMES typical!
Obviously that is NOT happening because that's a LITERAL pile of bodies on virtually every street, amounting to roughly FIVE PERCENT of the population."
