Thank you! This, a thousand times this. When I go in to work I sit in my cube and I hear my coworkers discussing current events or politics or guns or any-other politically charged "hot-button" issue and it takes all of my willpower to not jump over my cube and give them this lecture:

I'm not claiming to be an expert or genius on anything, but being "on-the-spectrum" I have had to rely on math, science, and objective-truth to explain the world around me for my entire life. Being "on-the-spectrum" my emotions are so muted that I can't just "feel" stupid irrational emotions and "take-it-to-the-bank" as truth, I have to know objective truth. When an allegedly smart person says something completely devoid of truth, logic, or reason and my immediate reaction is "are you stupid?" the answer is yes. They are so stupid they don't even know they're stupid!

I was recently "suspended" from work for for 1 day before a 3-day weekend for "violating COVID-Safety" protocols. My response to the others that were "suspended" with me was "If you offered me $10,000 to come up with the dumbest response to 'violating COVID safety protocols' there's no possible way I would come up with a 1 day suspension before a 3-day weekend that almost everyone is going to use to visit extended family and congregate with 'other households' ". That "suspension" was emailed while the socially-distanced happy-hour was still happening! If I had an entire weekend to figure out the dumbest response for $10k I wouldn't get there, yet my boss natively lives in that head-space and was able to come up with that idiotic "punishment" instantly without even thinking. Are you stupid? Yes. Despite the fact that you have multiple state licenses alleging you're smart, you're actually a complete idiot, so dumb in fact that you can't even comprehend that you're a moron. If he really believed we were some sort of "mass-spreader" event we should have been suspended for 10 (or 14) days (don't know what the CDC guidance was at that time), and if the point was to punish us for "wrong-think", a 4-day weekend hardly seems like punishment.
