Aldi (US) Horseradish-Cheddar Chips

Post by Eric »

Ermahgerd! My stash ran out months ago!
https://www.aldi.us/en/weekly-specials/ ... cheddar-3/

They only have this once a year and only one shipment so you gotta buy an entire year's worth of chips in one go. Tomorrow's the big day!!! :D

PUFA's are quite deadly. But there is a way you can enjoy chips and other fried food, just cook it in coconut oil

These chips make for a better alternative

I totally concur with the PUFA's being bad for one's health. It is very difficult to eat almost any processed food without the PUFA's!

raypeat.com is another resource, but he is a big meat eater, which turns some people off.

Actually, he focuses more on Bone broth and suggests organ meats once a week. He is also a big fan of Gelatin which I take whenever I consume larger amounts of meat than I would normally consume to deal with inflammatory amino acids most muscle meats contain. Ray Peat also advocates shrimps, mussels. and is big drinker of freshly squeezed OJ, Free range eggs, etc.

Oh he also pushes for lots of dairy such milk, cheese, but focuses on grass fed products

The site has lots of good articles, and YT has some decent interviews of Peat, although the man himself is somewhat pedantic in speech and writing. Excellent health information nonetheless.

I supplement daily with a lot of collagen hydrolysate (from grass-fed & pasture-raised bovine sources) - similar to gelatin - mostly to recover from exercise and to help meet my protein needs, since I intermittent fast on most days. Have also discovered that it helps to act as an effective appetite suppressant (relative to the calories) so I end up eating less junk food overall, in general. Also take a bit before sleep (mixed with magnesium and ashwagandha powder) when I can, and find it helpful in improving sleep quality.

And per Peat's recommendations, I try to eat some oysters and/or liver once a week at least. Maybe placebo, but I feel stronger and better when I do.

That's interesting...I have not read that yet. I have been looking on his website mostly. Maybe he has books out somewhere as well.

I found him interesting because my father back in Nov-2019 had some fainting spells, which were attributed to his heart only beating 70% of the time. He had a pacemaker put in and this revived his normal energy. However, with a pacemaker you have to take blood thinner medicine. My father always took an aspirin a day which had to stop due to being on blood thinners. Now a year after I'm seeing dementia taking hold more and more every month. Reading Peat's articles revealed to me the benefits of aspirin as a protector for brain function. It's a double edged sword senario...pacemaker-blood thinners / aspirin-brain function.

That is a dilemma. I know one chap that takes 500mg to 1 gram a day with vit K 2.5mg to 5mg and stopped taking his blood thinners. But you would need to do your research as one persons regime is not enough to base a new protcol on

If you listen carefully you might be able to hear a "woosh" sound in the breaks between me crunching away...that's the sound of all the fun being sucked out of this thread.

You're reminding me of an old joke:
"How do you know if someone is vegan?" [or does crossfit]
"Just wait 5 minutes, they'll tell you."

In all seriousness I'm sitting here thinking about growing my own horseradish but can't decide if I want to introduce something that tenacious into my garden.

That sound you hear is perhaps me eating popcorn cooked in PUFA oil.

But seriously, the science just isn't definitive on any of this. https://jandonline.org/article/S2212-26 ... 9/abstract
Current atmospheric levels of CO2 (400ppm) are much lower than 500 million years ago (3000-9000ppm).

I can tell you chips cooked in coconut oil actually taste better, so you get your cake and your pie to some degree. It would be pointless to eat healthy if it meant giving up taste LOL. However, once in awhile its good to binge on junk just to see the effect it causes on the body if you have not eaten it for awhile. I immediately feel a negative effect if i eat bread or almost any wheat based product and the same applies to PUFA's. In small amounts, i can handle them but not in large amounts. All the people I know that lived past 80, and many went on to live to their late 90's and some hit the 100 mark all consumed lots of saturated fats like butter, lard, and or coconut oil and virtually no seed oil was used in their daily cooking. Dr Uffe Ravnskov is an expert on this field having researched this topic in dept for years. However, if you like your PUFA's hey who am I to stop you from having fun    :D

I am surprised you also have aldi in the US. I dont know if you have the same products there, but for me, the best to buy there, is the olives nocellara, and the red wine bellaturi.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocellara_del_Belice

nocellara olives are considered the best of the world, and I think it is true.

Also, L-citrilline (can’t spell it right), also horny goat weed

I find also phenibut unleashes that animal instinct but I digress :P
