Born and raised Catholic, twelve years Catholic education. The Vatican has the largest collection of historical records of any formal religion. It is also documented that Jesus was a great prophet even by Jewish and Muslim historians.

I was taught Jesus performed no miracles, he was a man. H was probably way above level 4. As an example, the loaves and fishes did not multiply, there was a large group and among them some without sufficient food to eat. He was able to encourage everyone to share the feast.

Literal interpretation amongst numerous versions of a document is fraught with considerable risk imo. These stories of miracles were shared mouth to mouth for centuries. You couldn't get that much agreement in a classroom whispering messages from one corner to the next.

I am surprised the Catholic political matrix would even allow discussion of these issues to developing young minds. But, I was also exposed to media manipulation and what today is considered "dangerous" literature from the classics.

Everyone must make up their own mind in matters of the church and state.

I still think, but it's my opinion, the Bible is a collection of stories like Grimm's fairy tales to share a message. Other than that, the ideas it pushes create false expectations. like waiting for Jesus to show up. Why has he not shown up until now? No argument presented by the religious world has adequately answered that question. And why will only one group get to see him? That does not sound like a very loving system. He could appear every 10 years or every one year with ease.

Why forbid anyone from eating from the tree of knowledge? The analogy of a good parent does not apply as we were created by God, so we should have been created perfectly.

Then there is the issue of free will. As long as one listens to the commandments, one can falsely assume they have free will, but if one examines it logically, there is no free will. I mean, the dude did not even want us to eat from the tree of knowledge.

He destroyed the world twice; no loving or kind being would do that, regardless of the sins they committed. And in each instance, the human race did not improve. Why not create a better version of humans? In this sense, God holds the title of Mass Murderer. The Devil, on the other hand, in comparison, has done nothing. He seduced men and women into doing things, but he never committed the acts and if the person is weak to be seduced, it means the person was messed up to begin with. On the hand, God destroyed the world twice on his own accord.

The list goes on and on. To believe what is in the bible, one has to have enormous faith and purposely stop using higher parts of one's intellect in order to support the narrative. Mind you, these very people use these higher parts very well when it comes to doing their jobs, analysing data, etc., but it's suspended when it comes to religion.

I have not found one single piece of compelling data to suggest a God created us. What I think happened is that a God created someone that then went on to create us, hence the lousy design

I felt a massive load lift off my shoulders when I left the Catholic church, organized religion and no longer had to read the bible. It was probably the best day of my life. I came one step closer to being fully free, now, if only I could find a way out of this darn metaverse.

As for the Devil vs God, looking at the scorecard, the Devil has won hands down and continues to win. So the idea that God will win one day sounds nice, but the data states otherwise.

FYI this is my opinion. I am not forcing anyone to accept this view.

So much to say about religions in general and christianism. My parents also have put me in a catholic college ruled by jesuits. And in this college they learned me to be critical about all the subjects.

The first ideas that come to my mind :

yes, christianism is the basement of Europe and european minds. All the kings and queens were christians during more than 1000 years, and they had always something higher upon them, they also had a sacred mission for the nations and the people of their nations. Since the french revolution, the rulers of the nations have lost this sacralisation, they dont have a sacred duty anymore, maybe the root of our financial troubles ?????

Therefore I think that dechristianization of Europe is a real tragedy for everybody.

Yes, christianism is an abrahmic religion, and like the other abrahmic religions, its authoritarian, with the paradise as a carrot, and with the hell as the punition, if you dont follow the line.

Yes, Jesus was surely a great man, like Moses, like Elie, like Bouddha, like Krishna, like Manu, like Akhenaton, like Numa pompillius, like Zoroastre, like Plato, like Pythagore, like Lao tseu, etc.....

Charles Peguy, a french priest ""everything begins in mysticism and ends in politics"". Its the fate of all organized religions.

I have more to say, but maybe later, maybe about the baghavad gita, the song of God. Christians think they have nothing to make with the eastern sacred texts, but I think they are wrong.

You are correct in one sense, but the main reason people were decent was that they were encouraged, maybe even forced to adopt attitudes that were beneficial to society. Now society promotes SLOTH, So if the right values were taught at a young age, the same effect could be achieved. There is no discipline today, kids are not taught to respect their elders; a strong work ethic is not promoted. What everyone wants is easy money

Too many lines to follow. There is no freedom, only the illusion of it if one follows all these rules.

Wow, never heard anywhere in Christiandom teaching that there were no miracles.

They were not past down mouth to mouth for centuries, look at the accepted dates here: https://stellarhousepublishing.com/gospel-dates/ this is the sort of nonsense that gets perpetrated to discredit the Bible.

One of the things that convinced C S Lewis of the authenticity of the Gospels as he sort to disprove it was the fact that so many including nearly all the apostles that spent 3 years with Jesus went to their death declaring the things recorded in them including Jesus's death and resurrection. Any sensible research into the dating of the Bible it's authenticity and the historical Jesus should lead to at least a challenge to preconceived ideas of it just being a myth. In fact the Internet is full of so much crap of myths about it's lack of authenticity. How did a band of uneducated individuals effect the whole world, that's a miracle in itself.

Silly points and not very intelligent I would say especially for someone whose been reincarnated numerous times!

Your Biblical knowledge is poor which is typical for a Catholic, I knew next to nothing from my Catholic upbringing. The world has been destroyed (though it wasn't) as you put it once, not twice!

I'll answer one point just to show that your assumptions are naive: why hasn't Jesus shown up yet? Why on earth does he need to show up in your time frame? Should he have sent you a calendar invite! To God a thousand years is as a day, in fact he is outside of time as it's a product of his creation. The Bible refers to angels asking God why he doesn't intervene sooner and he declares that he is waiting for the full number of believers to enter the Kingdom, so God foreknows across the time span who exactly will enter. Many prophesies of Jesus's coming were 100's of years prior to his arrival, the famous ones from Isaiah arround 700 years. The oldest was back in Genesis. You speak from a finite mind and seem to lack any imagination as to the perspective of a supernatural all powerful being who is both a loving God and a God of justice and has to reconcile both.

By the way that's just my opinion, I'm not forcing anyone to go along with it!

The points I made are only silly against a biblical backdrop which is speculative and subjective in nature. Kids that have not been indoctrinated often pose the above question. As they say from the mouth of babes.

My mistake on the world being destroyed twice. I was confusing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed as the second destruction. However, he still killed a lot of people just because they would not obey him, typical tyrant-like behaviour. If a human does that it's considered evil, if God does that it's considered Just.

I don't need to see Jesus. My question was about his followers. Why do the faithful need to wait for so long?

As for reincarnation, I am sure you said it in Jest. I never stated I was reincarnated several times

Yes it was said in jest!

You're right no loving judge would sentence someone to life for only raping children and then burning them to death in sacrifice to a false God!

I don't have a problem waiting, if I die before his return then I go straight to Heaven, time as we know it only exists in this dimension/universe, no problem for 100s of millions of believers!

I would like to add to this conversation, not to change anyone's mind, but because I find it interesting. As a Christian for the past 37 years, and enjoying philosophy, I don't like being dogmatic and limited in my understanding. So, I have willingly looked at all sorts of philosophies regarding life and how we got here. I have to agree with Sol that the Bible has some questionable attributes. Things I have struggled with for a long time.

For one, if the Bible teaches that family is of high importance, why is the Bible filled with stories of dysfunctional families, i.e. the very first family's son killed the other son, Abraham lied to pharaoh about his wife saying she was his sister (it took God to tell him the truth before he had sex with her), the twelve tribes of Israel were born out of 4 women--2 women competing for the love of their husband plus their 2 maids, etc.
Secondly, it is odd that we say God is a male, that He is akin to a Father, as if we are children? It seems as Christians, we act like children. We say God will take care of this or that, or he will rescue us, or he will destroy our enemies. Is He really a 'He'? Or, is that just a convenient reference? Are we powerless and dependent?
I don't think we should have an image of an entity when we think of God,
or the Creator of the Universe.

One thing I think we can all agree on is, there is an intelligent design.
Everything is too precisely detailed and interconnected to be random, i.e., the way all of our organs are designed to function and be healthy and heal themselves from disease, the seasons, the food chain, the migrations, pro-creation of all species, recycling and regeneration of earth materials, etc.

I do believe the Bible has been a plumb line for the world to know what is right and wrong. I don't know if people would have it inherently in them to know. A lot of it is beautifully poetic. A lot of it may be allegory.
When I studied Hebrew is when I really started to question the literal-ness of the Bible in our English language. It is surprising how different the translation is. The Hebrew language is very poetic and they use imagery language to paint a picture in order to present an IDEA. Their language is much richer than ours. So, if we translate it literally, we get it wrong.

I am beginning to lean towards the idea that our Creator is an energy force.
Does it have a personality? I don't know.
How do we relate to it? My so-called prayers have been very ineffective for most of my life. I thought I received words of guidance that did not prove to be true, or they did not produce the desired result. This is the case for myself and for prophecies others have told me.
So, I am exploring the idea that we have an innate consciousness to connect with the Creator and the Creation, possibly through meditation. We have power inside of us to effect change. Think of remote viewing, astral projection, time travel, energy healing. How about the mere power of words to affect a change in ourselves and others?
We don't have to beg something outside of us to do it for us.

As for Catholicism, I was raised Catholic, baptized, first communion (with my pretty white dress) and confirmed, but left the church when I was 18, thinking, "there had to be something more than this". And, now we know the Catholic church has all sorts of problems with pedophilia, etc. There are some interesting books written by Malachi Martin regarding the evil corruption in the Catholic church.

And, I assume Budge is referring to the book of Enoch that has been left out of the Bible. Very interesting read about giants. Dr. Michael Salla has some interesting YT videos regarding giants being discovered right now, one in Florida, and one in Iraq.

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. Isaiah 45:7

.................

Well said and very beautiful. You touch here the most important thing , but its not trendy in the organized religions. All the power lies in meditation. All the prophets of the bible and outside the bible had in fact discovered and mastered the power of meditation. Jesus, Moses, Elie, Buddha and others, they all made a retreat in desert or mountains or near a river, to practice deep meditation. When they come back, a belief system is formed around them, with dogmas, books, laws, battles etc.....and all this ends with politics.!!!!! and after two generations, the mysticism of these great men is forgotten.

Jesus was in fact an essene, and practised meditation and pranayama. Its energy control. Everybody can practice it, with discipline and with a strong image to focus. You can use Jesus as a strong image.

I really like the way you said this. Very insightful. I agree with a lot of your observations and have experienced some of the things you speak of. I do believe we all are connected in some way, universally. Not just to each other but the universe itself.
