Gold possibly. Have read other places commodities, in general, are too volatile. But no time soon. FWIW.

King USD will reign supreme for at least another 10+ years.
Wanting to get out of the USD is not the same as being able to do it.

They can try but good luck
Until the dollar actually gets replaced, this is all hot smoke and mirrors.
If anything, these countries are being exploited even more by the US. The FED and the dollar are crushing.
If they actually try today to replace the dollar, all at once, then a Great Depression 5.0 will start. They know it and America knows it

Imagine being a Russian citizen living in Georgia. Your passport is expiring so you need to renew it. Naturally, you go to your consular section here in Tbilisi.
Can you guess in which currency you must pay the consular fee? (Again, this is the consulate of the Russian Federation we're talking about.)
In Roubles? That would be understandable, but no.
In the local currency, the Georgian lari? That would make the most sense, but nope.
...
You need to bring $80, in cash, with the exact amount. Yep, US dollars.

Your post is timely, and it reminds me of a similar recent experience shared by an associate in Indonesia. He was in the process of getting a visa for Russia and had brought along the local currency and credit cards. However, to his surprise, they did not accept credit cards or any other currency except dollars. Moreover, they even gave him change in small denominations of ones and fives, which is not a common practice in many places where they typically return change in the local currency.nicolas wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 3:00 pm Imagine being a Russian citizen living in Georgia. While I dislike what our government does and how they have taken us to the cleaners, I find the concept of the BRIC's currency laudable for now. I submit this video to illustrate how the masses are primed and prepped to substitute nonsense, hype, and hyperbole for facts.
