Re: Light Entertainment
What is downright disturbing is that the US is ruled by so many old, broken down and mentally disabled individuals. There is nothing wrong with older people, but our young politicians are brain dead for the most part, and the old ones don't even know they are alive. It's a terrible situation. Look at Nancy. When she speaks, you almost feel she is about to go into an epileptic seizure.

When you listen to her you wonder how she is even allowed to drive let alone be in congress

Y'know, she could be both ... it's an "and" question, I would think ...
I have to say, Nancy looks great for her age. Wonder what supplements she is taking?

She's definitely not the first one and all the evidence points to definitely being the second one. I think it stands as is.
As for supplements I hear copious amounts of silicone is her secret.

Adrenochrome, but it does not appear to be working.

Warm weather apocalypse
MET OFFICE ISSUES RED ALERT
I have friends who have been told not to go to work today 'for their own safety'. Trains are being cancelled, operating theatres and schools closed. Some restaurants not serving food because the kitchen is too warm (I'm not making any of this up, despite it being in Light Entertainment).
I'm in London at the moment, I'll concede that it's slightly unpleasant: 26°C overnight at its coolest. A possible 40°C peak today. And if you are frail or unhealthy it might not be the best idea to go for a run at 2pm. But what happened to common sense and individual responsibility?
I like the take of this MP who says wtf is happening - a lone voice, it would appear.

WOKISM is spreading like cancer in the West and the ability to think is vanishing even faster. That clip was quite funny but I don't think it ever made it to the States.harryg wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 6:50 am MET OFFICE ISSUES RED ALERT

Charlie Munger on Inflation and Crypto
Outlook on the Economy, Inflation
Inflation does not play a factor in Munger's investment strategy.
"I’m always aware of it, but it doesn’t stop me from operating,"he said. "I’m 98½ years of age, and I’ve seen a lot of inflation. I intend to live through inflation. I’ve lived through a lot of it already in my long life. It doesn’t discourage."
Munger largely ignores current macroeconomic trends when he is making decisions on investments.
"I don’t pay much attention to macroeconomic trends," he said. "Like the weather, I just ignore the weather. I just try to invest whatever capital I have as best I can & take the results as they fall. I just seize whatever opportunities I can & I hope I get my share."
Crypto: 'Never Buy It'
Munger has always been brutually honest about his disdain for investing in cryptrocurrency, stating in the past that the digital currencies are fraudulent and deemed bitcoin to be a "noxious poison" as well as "stupid and "immoral."
Sellers of bitcoin and other virtual coins are not trustworthy and the digital currencies are a “mass folly,” he said.
"I think anybody that sells this stuff is either delusional or evil,"Munger told the Financial Review. "I won’t touch the crypto. “I’m not interested in undermining the national currencies of the world.”
He advises investors to avoid them.
"Never touch it," he said. "Never buy it. Let it pass by. I regard it as almost insane to buy this stuff or to trade in it. I just avoid it as if it were an open sewer, full of malicious organisms. I just totally avoid and recommended everybody else follow my example.”
Investing in the stocks of companies that generate a profit is a better strategy.
"Stocks have a real interest in real businesses," he said. "Crypto is an investment in nothing and the guy who’s trying to sell you an investment in nothing says, ‘I have a special kind of nothing that’s difficult to make more of. I don’t want to buy a piece of nothing."

A lot of Truisms in the above post

Lol, this seals it: both you and BJ are posting bad stuff about crypto - bottom's likely in, or close, for BTC (strong support in the 12k to 15k range).AstuteShift wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 10:52 am Crypto is a house of cards, eventually it will lead to a field of broken dreams rather than riches.
BTC will start doing well again, sometime after March '23.
Btw, I don't consider BTC = "crypto." It's quite different from the alt. coins.
Most alt. coins will be perished, but BTC and a few others should do well, in the years ahead.
Remember, my base case is that BTC was started by the CIA before it was handed over to the smart coders, and I don't think the CIA is ready to kill off its brainchild, yet.
Or if you want a better, non-conspiratorial analogy, BTC's long-term pattern is remarkably similar to Amazon's.
Highs and lows, unimaginable volatility, and so forth ...

Not negative, I still expect it to mount some rally (could be quite decent) and then the odds are quite high it will drop to new lows. Then it is possible a mega buy signal could be triggered.Yodean wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 3:06 pmLol, this seals it: both you and BJ are posting bad stuff about crypto - bottom's likely in, or close, for BTC (strong support in the 12k to 15k range).AstuteShift wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 10:52 am Crypto is a house of cards, eventually it will lead to a field of broken dreams rather than riches.
