-Misinformation: noun, information that is true and correct and might lead people towards freedom and autonomy instead of tyranny and slavery.

Argument

Post by harryg »

Chatting last night with someone who was insisting that military force was the only answer to someone like Putin.

I patiently explained the advantage of economic sanctions over any type of outright physical conflict, but no matter what ideas I put forth, this chap just wouldn't listen to my rational arguments. He kept insisting that some people only understand violence.

In the end I had to punch him in the face just to make him see reason.

Really?! I don't see you as the kind of guy to resort to violence over a spirited intellectual debate.
I assume metaphorically.

I know you didnt punch him, but man it would be awesome to react that way sometimes. You made my day with this. An open fist would have been funnier

I never support war and violence and it’s unfortunate this is happening.

It’s sad that we don’t learn from history hence why AI will evolve and eventually take over.

Hope for humanity but not all of human kind.

Like me, you sound like you're generally bullish on A.I., but bearish on human nature.

Unlike me, you think A.I. will take over, while I think during the remainder of our lifetimes, it'll be a 13-year-old Rothschild and the like pushing the buttons on the next 666 versions of DeepMind.

JL i could not agree more with you, there are some chaps that are simply begging for a nice hard smack, maybe several and the devil in me at times feels so great with the prospect of letting these thoughts become reality, but then I stop and play a small trick. I visualise the person that is mentally challenged (non PC is brain dead) as a friendly burro and then I burst out laughing, sometimes people think I am mad but who cares my anger turns into laughter. The other trick I find that works wonders is to suddenly change from trying to make them see the light to saying yeah yeah you are right. Why didn't I see the light before? You are an absolute genius, Charlie Brown. What would I do without you? Now they want you to argue because agreeing with them makes them feel like it's a hollow victory and then you see these jackasses are just miserable bastards that get a kick of irritating regular individuals so that they can have some company. misery loves company and stupidity simply demands it

The inspiration for this joke was something my grandfather once said:

"If someone is annoying you, hold your breath and slowly count to 10".

"Then punch 'em in the face"

When he started talking about how great he is as opposed to other guy, it proved without a shred of doubt that what we have in play is part two of Dumb and Dumber. Maybe we should open up a thread called Retarded Hour

Not feeling very cheery today, for the obvious reasons, but when people are down a lift can be welcome...

This is from Not The Nine O Clock News, a sketch show from the late 70s early 80s

Please, NO!

Mr. Opporknockity was a world class piano tuner, tuning pianos for symphonies and orchestras. Some enamored Big Tuna tried to enlist his services for years, to tune his daughters Steinway grand. It finally occurred, and the piano sounded better than new, better than ever, to Big Tuna's delight. After awhile he thought it sounded a bit off, so he called the virtuoso's office and tried to enlist Opponockity again. The secretary told him curtly "Opporknockity only tunes once".
