It's good to see subers come out with their own trades and more importantly to see that they are confident in trying something new. That is the only way to advance, have no fear to lose, for even when you lose there is a lesson to be learned. Life is all about advancing and if examined through the right lens, failure is nothing but a stepping stone to success
Fear really is the illusion that holds everyone back. It’s amazing how all of our problems are tied to this useless emotion.
Nice to see we're up $500 per TSLA contract today. It's rallying but it seems like betting TSLA would go down was a good idea. BABA is not reacting as strongly to the market downturn.
I covered for a nice small profit, will probably get in if it tests the 260 ranges for BABA but no regrets!

Closed the Tesla positions for 50 percent profit, Baba at 20 percent. I still have one other Tesla position so will hold on and see what will happen

Overall, I’m more excited to get into some AI plays, shorting with puts is not my strongest suit but I was impressed with the profit generated. Kudos to SOL for providing plays like this, hopefully more in the future!

I'm surprised you closed it so quickly. But I see the wisdom given TSLA went back up and the value of our put is down to a $79 profit. In the future when I see a pop like this I'll do likewise and take the profit. Maybe I'll set an alert for Tsla toward the downside to catch the next fall
Current atmospheric levels of CO2 (400ppm) are much lower than 500 million years ago (3000-9000ppm).

As the contract still has a long way till expiration, I am sure there are many such opportunities in the future.

When i was dumber I would short more stocks via puts but now I prefer to relax and enjoy the free things in life. Money is necessary but most individuals seek more than they need and something has to give, your health etc. There is no free meai in this cosmos.

However congrats to all those that shorted and banked some gains.
When the words short term appear under any post; the same conditions listed in the Market update under the short term category apply

The end is always near; its the beginning and how you live each moment that counts the most

Indeed, I was falling into the trap of looking too much of the action so I decided to just stop the stress from manifesting. Much easier to just buy discounts in bull markets

Nice job on the TSLA trade. Can you explain how you were up $500 per TSLA contract? I was looking at the Jan 2022 240 and 160 Puts that were discussed on this chain and I couldn't figure out how someone was up $500. Much appreciated.

on 2/9/21 I paid $10.20 for one contract of the 1/21/2022 $240 put. This was when TSLA stock was around $850.

Yesterday TSLA dipped to $632.37 and the put traded at $14.85 .

(14.85-10.20)*100= $465 profit. I rounded up to $500 ... Astute got in a bit lower than I did.

To be clear I didn't sell mine but Astute did.

I was thinking of doing that tomorrow.

Round 2
Can anyone explain why even though TSLA has moved down a bit in the last 2 days the Call Option hasn't moved up much? Shouldn't options roughly track the underlying stock?

I *think* the explanation is there is not much trade volume for this so it's stuck at last price. Which makes me think low volume options are not great to get into (shouldn't we always work with options that have decent volume??)

I guess what I'm asking is if there is usually a predictable linear relationship (ratio) between option prices and their underlying stock.

You mean puts I hope haha.

It depends on the option strike price, the delta and whether it’s in the money or out the money

The puts we are in are very out of the money and require a massive move to the downside for profit

One website where you can see the profit/loss is called option profit calculator.com

This website will give you a nice idea of what to expect

Yes a PUT. This website is overwhelming but AWESOME. I was wondering if something like this existed. I was thinking about how to identify which PUTS to sell for maximum profit. I think this will go a long way towards that.

The website doesn't seem to tell me anything I don't already know. I have to enter in all the data and it just does a chart showing returns. I was hoping it would identify the best options for max profit. I guess I'll keep staring at it. Is there any software that does this? I saw an ad for Ninjatrader for example.
