That's excellent, next we'll have women wanting to go round being irresponsible, having unprotected sex, and getting lots of men pregnant!

If things carry on like this I won't be able to afford to post these for much longer, so enjoy it while it lasts
The first one is a funny, but I think it contains a lot of truth...

The second is a favourite. Simple and to the point:

The third one is exactly my sense of humour. I can be a prefectoinist (this doe'snt mean that I do things prefcetly, its more of a mentle obssesive compulsif disordure that makes one uncumfortable with messtakes).
If I had put this sign up, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that I would have taken it down and started again:

A bit of dark humour on these darker than normal days

One day (hopefully sooner than later but it will definitely come to pass) we can sit back and make light of these strong pullback, akin to what we did after the COVID crash

The Parable of the Simpering Imbecile
Yes you are right, I look forward to that too, but it's easy to make light of things after the event.
If you can't stand up and be counted when the going is tough, then, well, sit down and shuttupa your face innit.
I'm reminded of the Parable of the Simpering Imbecile.
No doubt bpcw will correct any slight errors in my historical narrative.
And the Lord said unto the Weary Pilgrim:
Thou shalt meet with many travellers upon thy journey.
The Doer is a character who will always seize the opportunity for action. This person is to be admired for his fortitude, but not necessarily emulated, for he forges forth with neither caution nor intelligence - for him Action is everything.
Thy shall also meet the Thinker - he is to be admired for his reflection and aptitude, although sometimes this prevents him from activity for he is apt to cogitate to the nth degree. Thou art prone to be such a Thinker, HarryG - rise from thy posterior and get cracking.
Thy shall also meet the Simpering Imbecile aka The Criticising Imp. He doth snap at your heels and profess his agreement and eternal gratitude when times are good, but in times of turmoil he doth slink into the shadows and is seen no more. He should be avoided, for he doth be a spineless twit.
Finally thy shall meet the persons who are Worth It (for The Lord did hath a decent turn of phrase). They doth combine wisdom and reflective action. These persons are numerous but thou must doth actively seek them out (for the Lord had imbibed of the Absolut by this point and was difficult to understand).

Making light of something actually helps
https://www.drdarciedixon.com/blog/on-m ... ive%20ones.Research has found that to make light of something is a more effective coping strategy than stoicism in the face of stressful situations. And, to be more specific, positive, optimistic, “good-natured” humour outperforms cynical (“mean spirited”) comedy in increasing positive emotions and decreasing negative ones. The research team attributes the impact of making light on positivity as a tool that forces a change of perspective; creating a new mental picture to create an effective coping strategy. This ‘reappraisal’ of stressful situations suggests a better ability to cope and a healthy adjustment of expectations.
Why is Making Light of the Situation Effective?
Perspectives in the field of Psychology explain that making light of serious situations can be an effective coping mechanism for two reasons:
People with a sense of humour might be more likely to see their environment as less threatening, leading to experiencing less stress in their lives;
For situations that are stressful, those who respond with humour tend to cope better with the stress, reappraising the stressful things as not as severe.
The result is that people who are responding by making light of a bad situation experience less stress and have better emotional and physical health.
Indeed, it turns out there are medical(ish) benefits from laughter. According to the Mayo Clinic, the short-term benefits of laughter include increased intake of oxygen-rich air (which stimulates your heart, lungs, and muscles), increases in the endorphins that are released by your brain, decreases in stress response, heart rate and blood pressure. Long-term, laughter can boost your immune system, relieve pain, to help connect with other people, improve mood and overall life satisfaction.
So we have to thank Harry for his genius in opening this section. He certainly has the ability to make light of many things

(Additionally, judging from a sober re-read of The Parable of the Simpering Imbecile, I should perhaps be banned from posting after 6pm).
Humour as a coping mechanism in times of stress is an age-old tactic/method. And I include real stress, like death and war. It does not mean, as some think, that the situation is not being taken seriously.
In normal times, it's enjoyable and that is on its own enough reason to embrace it.
As more research is done, they come up with myriad supposed benefits as mentioned above.
Did you know, for example, that clowns were good for getting pregnant? That was a new one to me, I am one of the (apparent) few who never liked clowns.
