Sometimes the best information is right in front of us and we don't see or our brain refuses to process because of information bias filters we have imposed on ourselves. For example, if a good friend gives you a piece of advice it is treated differently even though he is a total jackass on the subject than you would treat the same piece of information but coming from a stranger that actually knows what he is talking about. Why? Because your mind tells you that your friend has a good heart and has your back covered. However, the truth is that he does not even have his arse covered. In a battle maybe you can rely on this friend but if he is dishing out information about the markets and women do the opposite. 90% are experts when it comes to women, that is experts at making sure they lose them

When you think about it, the average person has an immense amount of data at their disposal that they never put to use.

Hahaha, I knew I was opening myself for a shot or two. Well, it's a liqueur so has to be savoured. Vodka can be done standing up, especially when you drink it the Russian way which is one shot at a time, no sipping

Hey all, froggo here, just another Aussie from that land down under. Young enough to stay curious and old enough to know better (most of the time)
Am a data analyst by trade but zero share trading skills - am open to learning from scratch, empty that cup as they say, make those mistakes (fail fast fail quick and improve) and looking to immerse myself in my new hobby.

Re my stock investment and share trading experience, I have basic fundamental understanding and have previously studied (about 10-15 years ago I did some share trading course and have read up on fair few popular TA / FA / investment books, so am aware on basics around psychology and emotions being the major impact on investment success). Have been thinking about stock market investments and putting it off for a good long while.

But recently I looked at my financial goals and decided to include stock market as part of my investment strategy. So I researched around and became interested in the contrarian mindset of investment - it aligns with my general approach to life. I wanted to either buy/hold shares for long term capital growth, and also learn the more short/mid term risk management aspects of share trading. I also find it to become real interesting and potentially become a hobby - you never know how I can turn it into a traveling nomad lifestyle, gotta start small and from somewhere!

Found TI (via stockgumshoe) and immediately connected with it. Been flat chat past month, but finally got my act together and implemented the investment / trading plan over the past week. Alot of learning and diving around, but picking it up and loving it! I'm not a master at all this TA stuff, which is why I am happy to just follow the alerts and market updates, and slowly learn the TA from you guys - but most importantly by having my skin in the game. I have a high risk tolerant profile (but never the type to gamble or bet at casinos etc) and never bothered with paper trading - just went straight in with real money because something about that makes me very interested to learn quickly

So that's my intro.
And to be honest, I'm very very introverted and don't talk much - am happy to just hang in the background watching and learning!

Best piece of toast I ever had was in Port Douglas. Utterly bizarre thing to remember (and to repeat, I suppose), but there it is.

Most incredible sight (sorry, Grand Canyon) was the Barrier Reef.

Most unusual night stay was in Coober Pedy (underground).

Also very lucky to see whales off the coast of Perth.

Everyone in Australia is young. I don't know what you do with the oldies.

That's my Aussie knowledge.

Sounds like you have traveled more of Australia than I have and been here done that - good on ya! Visiting UK /Europe is on me to do list one day. Our golden oldies just hiding out the suburbs enjoying retirement such as in pubs with beers and pokie machines (as probably same in UK) - but difference is we're more spread out across this huge land area, so you don't see that so much in the city centres or popular trails.

And thanks for sharing a good laugh lmao.
The joke pretty much sums up our how laid back us Aussies are known to be, along with having kangaroos and koala bears in our back yards, mud wrestling with crocodiles and snakes, and wearing our national attire the billabong hats broad shirts and thongs lol.

As an undergrad I lived in London, and at that time (late 60s early 70s) the big hang out for all the Aussies on their Grand Tour would be Earls Court. A freer time in all senses of the word. The shame is the Aussies are still as good at cricket if not better (or have the Brits just got worse)?

Did hear that one time, when entering Australia, Peter Ustinov was asked by an immigration official if he had a criminal record. He replied that he didn't know it was still required.
