Footie, footy, my spelling isn't the best but short for football which is the proper name for the game since about a thousand years ago, way before a nation was called America when they used the word for a game where you wear more armour than a bomb disposal expert!

And Harry, have you ever watched cricket, enough said , what's your sport, slug racing!

I used to go snail racing.

I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it might get him to go faster.

If anything it made him sluggish.

Watching sport is boring to me, football one of the worst offenders. Loads of pansies falling over and clutching at their ankles in 'agony' trying to get a free kick or a penalty.

As opposed to US football where it takes four hours for 30 minutes of action. Only that long to get all the commercials in. Be a much better game if it just started at the two minute warning.

On a different topic but pressure cooker, there was an incident in Nashville yesterday. Most of you know the situation if you watch the news.

Terrible, no other words.

Now the pressure cooker. Daughter is a librarian that manages a branch in a US metro. She was needing a new assistant and typically they are allowed to interview by the branch manager. Last summer they assigned someone, like the Nashville person, to her branch. By HR, and promoted out of their original position across town.

Daughter is open minded socially. The individual failed miserably. Her branch was totally disrupted for months.
Despite multiple attempts to train, etc. They "resigned" after multiple notices to poor performance. My daughter has been one who has fired people "for cause" in the past. None of the other staff wants to do their job apparently. A library staff position is not high pressure. Most of the positions are simple and part time in nature. It's usually a job for retirees and second income "fun" money.

In light of the ongoing assault on humanity, my wife and I are trying to decide how to coach our daughter to impress her management on how to protect her and staff from something like yesterday.

Exercise we'd sometimes perform in karate was to stand facing each other and then deliver Gedan Mawashi Geri (low roundhouse kicks) with the instep to lower quad area (vastis lateralis/charley horse/deadleg area) to see who tapped out first.

Yeh, we did versions of this kind of stuff in Krav Maga as well as Muay Thai. Even light slow punches to face and harder ones to gut. 33%-force body kicks, etc.

Getting too old for that - so now, I just like my wife slap me around a bit.
