BTC swing-trade, Al Bundy #3
There appears to be some interest in cryptos so I will detail a quick swing-trade I just executed.
As usual, I am not a financial advisor so the following should not be construed as specific financial advice.
1) 1st lot of BTC bought 5 minutes ago (this is on top, and separate from, my core HODL crypto. holdings).
2) Anticipate 2nd lot purchase on Monday if BTC stays below 62k.
3) Triad Exit Strategy (TES) in play - sell 1/3rd, on upside break of 67k; sell another 1/3rd on break of 69k; let remaining 3rd run for a bit, pending further analyses;
4) Tight stop @ 57.5k - on downside break of 57.5k, sell all;
*****
My projections are that this trade has about 65%+ probability of success; BTC is around 60k atm, so you are risking about 3% to 4% of your capital, for 12% to 20%+ gains; in other words, 65% probability of 12% - 20%+ gains, vs. 35% of a 3% to 4% loss;
*****
Yeh, Tulip Bubble it may be, but I'm deep in my 2nd million USD of crypto. profits alone, in the last few years, so there's money to be made if you're agile, and don't get too greedy - i.e. take profits along the ride, HODL a bit when things go south and don't worry too much about the red numbers next to your crypto. assets, etc.

BTC swing-trade f/u
For those interested in my little BTC swing-trade, BTC traded above 62k Monday so 2nd lot was not deployed (I don't trade afterhours).
1st lot was deployed Friday when BTC was around 60k, and currently BTC is trading 68k+, above my 1st profit target of 67k+, so assuming BTC stays above 67k tomorrow, I will be selling 1/3rd of the 1st lot. If BTC trades above 69k+ tomorrow, 2/3rd of the 1st lot will be sold, and the remaining 1/3rd will be allowed to run a bit.
Hard stop remains on downside break of 57.5k.

@YY: if you have a fairly "safe" swing-trade or two, and have the inclination, might be fun to post it ... I am sure there are others like me who enjoy looking at new ways of trading volatile sectors ...AstuteShift wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:43 am I’ve been in crypto theme stocks short term, absolutely killer gains, especially NVDA and AMD

Dollar trade
Forgot to post that I am long the dollar, started at 92.50 all the way to 93.75 via the futures market. I will take profits from time to time but my main goal is to use pullbacks to keep opening up more positions via the futures marketsYodean wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 2:34 pm@YY: if you have a fairly "safe" swing-trade or two, and have the inclination, might be fun to post it ... Will start to short the Euro shortly. one can also use options on the futures markets but as with all options markets it's ruled by crooks
When the words short term appear under any post; the same conditions listed in the Market update under the short term category apply

Re: Dollar trade
Thanks for the update, Sol. I see you have moved up the entry point for your long dollar trade from < 91.50 (you mentioned this in a previous post) to 92.50 to 93.75.SOL wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 2:59 pm Forgot to post that I am long the dollar, started at 92.50 all the way to 93.75 via the futures market. I am a bit like you, When I am in a high conviction trade I don't mind paying a bit more and if prices drop I will add more as the odds are high that the trade will work out, However, when it comes to futures you need to have balls of steel or be like a buddha where you just don't give a shit.
Also looking at stocks and analysing new patterns sometimes means I am a bit late to the game but that is ok as long as the trend is in the early stages

I’ll keep on eye on crypto them stocks with the short term options. Of course it has to have the charts in oversold territory, also low IV (implied volatility). Of course one can enter shares too if they want to play it saferYodean wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 2:34 pm@YY: if you have a fairly "safe" swing-trade or two, and have the inclination, might be fun to post it ... King USD, One Coin to Rule All
I view the USD as the centerpiece of the global financial debt-based Ponzi scheme. If one gets the overall direction of the USD right, one may really do well in the markets, through extrapolation to other sectors, etc., and may execute specific trade strategies with less downside risks and more potential gains.SOL wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 3:13 pm I am a bit like you, When I am in a high conviction trade I don't mind paying a bit more and if prices drop I will add more as the odds are high that the trade will work out, However, when it comes to futures you need to have balls of steel or be like a buddha where you just don't give a shit.

I have not ventured into futures, and do not plan to do so - I have been long the USD for quite a few years by simply holding most of my net worth in USD-denominated assets.

Futures trading is not for the faint of heart. You really have to be able to view the whole thing as a game. If you can and wait for the right moment futures can yield spectacular gains. One should stick with what one is comfortable

Disagree. Can only grow by getting out of the comfort zone (cave?).

Re: How to store your cryptos?
Well, many don't think like that, Though I fully agree, nothing ventured nothing gained. At most only 10% of investors have this kind of mindset

One way for those that are willing to take the risk is to use options on futures. Once again, to try something new, you must be prepared to fail before you succeed. No risk no gainAstuteShift wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 1:52 pmI’m terms of trading, futures is a high leverage and big boy market. You can easily get killed
