Semiconductor stocks

Post by jonnyfrank »

Is anyone thinking the semiconductor stocks have been oversold lately? NVDA especially.....

Also, thoughts on TLT?

I'm still accumulating TMF on dips. Been doing so for awhile, and it's in a profitable position, so I'm actually averaging "up" on this one.

TLT is going through a technical correction after the recent run-up - on the dailies, it may yet fill the gap down to 94.96.

There's also year-end CTA, fund rebalancing.

In general, about 80% of gaps get filled ... the problem is, this could happen tomorrow, or in a year.

After a gap gets filled, there's usually consolidation followed by some type of reversal.

In terms of semiconductors, my favourites remain INTC and TSM. AMD and NVDA are okay.

All four will likely do very well in the years ahead.

Good stuff! Thank you for the insight. I too have accumulated TMF and am holding. It seems like the semi stocks were perhaps oversold in the last week or so.

Still don't like TLT at the moment and agree it'll try another drop into the 90s. Signs of a turn in the monthlies but weekly looks like it's joining the daylies.

Re: semis - my preference is NVDA but they all look like dogs, lovely dogs at these prices for those with patience. Some signs of life on the daily charts. I have one concern about AMD that bears watching and that's the Beneish M-Score at (1.32) for TTM. Indicates manipulation of financials.

[FYI, I own everything mentioned except TMF]

Its not on our list of stocks, with a horizon of 6 to 12 months I would probably favour BYDDY over TSLA. However, both are volatile plays.

Sol it seems that the berkshire backed and 7% owned in Berkshire Energy group, chinese Byddy is indeed the better one and is preferred at least on this today's article https://finance.yahoo.com/news/buffett- ... 26980.html Maybe byddy has a better ecar.

I believe that with every privately owned company of Berkshire Hathaway that a Berkshire Rep is on the Board ? However not as sure with the public companies owned by Brk.a and Brk.b but certainly a buy by Berkshire in itself must influence the stock price ?

A couple of hours to go...note the location of the black dashed line, VWAP. 51 is above the current level, and institutions trade last hour...

Getting close to this TI sell trigger point. I am thinking that along with TI there r probably many investors using this resistant point to sell off. Do u think this will cause a stampede and therefor cause the Dow to quickly fall off this recent high - will and should some begin to sell off slightly before this line is crossed? And prior, maybe TI will decided to raise the sell off point?

I think it's impossible to tell - all we can do is make a best guess.

Through the grapevine, there's some talk that the Big Boys want to keep S&P above 3900 or so through Jan. 20th options expiry - I don't know how to read options flow to come to this conclusion, but it was mentioned to me in passing.

Others who are in contact with mutual fund managers, hedge fund managers, etc. are telling me that a lot of these dudes are sitting on a ton of cash, waiting for a "bigger dip" in which to buy into.

What I do know is that the reverse repo. market is sitting on record levels of cash - greater than $2.5 trillion USD - at some point, some of that is going to come flooding into the equity and bond markets.

U.S long bond options' action has been very strange lately - seems to be pricing in a big bull run this year.

Finally, these days we have to look at CTA (computer algo positioning): seems to be fairly bullish, based on incomplete info (near time stamp):

It's not black or white ... when markets are climbing a potential Wall of Worry, investors often flip-flop between being bullish and bearish.

You were responsible for 50% of the JBS last October ... that was an extremely strong trigger for me. The stuff you're doing now is irrelevant to my trading.
