Currency markets are the key and in the currency markets the Rouble is king. They lowered rates again. In less than 2 months they went from 20 percent to 9.5 and the rouble strengthened. In terms of the east, a few of their missiles will take care of the problem if China decides to push. What is emerging is that China will stick with Russia for they will need Russia to make a move on Taiwan. China does not generally stab others in the back, despite all their talk, they tend to honour deals like the Russians. They need Russia just as much Russia might need them , they will stand back to back. On a separate note it appears that the markets are letting the US know that their moves so far are wrong and now that everyone thinks that all hell will break loose, a move by the Dow to test the 30K ranges which it was supposed to do in the 4th quarter is underway, this will pave the way for a strong leg up , after a bit more blood letting, then if nothing changes on the energy frontier, the ensuing strong rally could fizzle. While it is painful and downright disturbing in the short to intermediate timelines, the long term outlook is still bright. It is hard to see this when there is so much blood everywhere

I agree. I don't see anything at all regarding Russia and Ukraine. Just a lot of news stories of stupid people doing stupid things, ie., people ramming cars into police cars or store fronts, boyfriend executes girlfriends daughter, idiot throws flare into GOP candidates office, etc.

The stock market In the US will do well, but living in the US and most of Europe is another thing. So the greener pastures reference is for the open-minded to look for alternative places to live in, if they are bold enough to venture to new frontiers.

Americans are great at giving advice when they are dealing with inferior enemies, unfortunately, Russia is not inferior, their technology in some cases is superior to ours and more importantly, it's a nation that no one has been able to conquer for over 1000 years. They are battle-hardened and Russians suddenly unify against an external threat. This is why Putin has so much support. If were to stop the offence now, he would have to worry about being strung from the nearest tree by his people. They are ready for a long war and this is why it is deadly to awaken the Russian bear, once it awakens it will not stop until it destroys all its enemies or they beg for forgiveness. I wish there was another route, but this is how the Russians work. The red line has been breached so now its time to pay for they will not relent
