Sex offender news: Rabbi among 30 Charged

A New Jersey rabbi registered as a sex offender was among three people arrested in connection with the human trafficking and prostitution of a 17-year old girl.

Rabbi Aryeh Goodman, 35, of East Brunswick, has been charged with engaging in prostitution with a child and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. He runs a religious learning center out of his home.

Gabriella Colon, 18, and Richard Ortiz, 23, both of the Bronx, New York, have been charged with 11 criminal counts including human trafficking and promoting the prostitution of a child. According to a statement from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, they sold the sexual services of the teen, from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to approximately 30 men from Jan. 1 to Feb. 2.

Goodman met the teen at the hotel on Feb. 1 and paid to have sex with her, according to the statement. He turned himself in nearly a week later to the East Brunswick Police Department while accompanied by his attorney. Read more

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) – A New Jersey rabbi and two New York City residents are facing charges in connection with the alleged human trafficking of a Pennsylvania teenager.

Middlesex County prosecutors say 18-year-old Gabriella Colon and 23-year-old Richard Ortiz, both of the Bronx, coerced a 17-year-old Lancaster girl into having sex with roughly 30 men between Jan. 1 and Feb. 2 at an East Brunswick hotel. They were arrested Friday and face numerous charges, including criminal restraint and promoting prostitution.

The rabbi, 35-year-old Aryeh Goodman of East Brunswick, was allegedly among those who had sex with the girl. He’s charged with engaging in prostitution with a child and child endangerment. Read more

Damien Read, 21, preyed on a “vulnerable” 14-year-old girl – persuading her to perform a sex act – and was seen on CCTV performing a sex act on himself at a public library

Officers discovered that Damien Read, 21, had preyed on a “vulnerable” 14-year-old girl, telling her he was also 14 before having sexualised chats with her.

The girl had performed a sexual act on herself at Read’s request and told police that she was his girlfriend when they found her phone number at the paedophile’s home in Didsbury, Manchester, a court heard.

Read – who taunted the officers when he was arrested, telling them “I love being above the law” – had also performed a sex act on himself while using a computer at a public library, the Manchester Evening Newsreported.

But Read was spared jail despite his latest crimes and a history of sexual offences, with a judge saying he had a chance of rehabilitation. Full Story
